The Runarounds won't be getting renewed for another season by Prime Video.

The teen drama released its first season last year, directed by Jonas Pate, Steven Tsuchida, and Kyra Sedgwick under Amazon Studios.

Though The Runarounds Season 1 received above seven stars on IMDb, the streaming service has decided to pull the plug on the drama. After the news was confirmed, the Instagram page of The Runarounds band released a statement that read:

"Today, we found out as many of you did that The Runarounds TV show will not be coming back for a season 2. First and foremost we want you to know that while the TV series may have come to a close, as a band we’re here to stay. This is merely the end of one chapter and the beginning of a new one."

They further thanked everyone who helped create the first season, including the fans, for making the show and its music successful. While the series will not return for a second season, the band has confirmed it will continue performing.

In the statement released by The Runarounds band on Instagram, along with confirmation about the cancellation of this series, the band also updated fans about their decision to continue and perform live in certain cities, which fans can attend. The official statement read:

"With all of this said, we won’t be stopping the band anytime soon, and if you liked the show and want to see more, grab a ticket, we’re coming to your city! We are working on our debut album and we can’t wait to share new music and make new memories with you."

The band has already released the dates and locations where they'll be performing, with many shows already showing sold out. Additionally, the statement at the end of the post hinted at new music, meaning the band is still going to continue despite the series's cancellation.

The teen drama was released last year on Prime Video and consisted of eight episodes. The series created by the creator of Outer Banks revolved around high school graduates who form a band.

The series featured Axel Ellis, Brooklyn Decker, Hayes Macarthur, Jesse Golliher, Kelley Pereira, Lilah Pate, Maximo Salas, William Lipton, Zendé Murdock, Jeremy Yun, Marley Aliah, Mark Wystrach, and Shea Pritchard in its cast and was suitable to watch for viewers above the age of eighteen due to its mature themes.

The synopsis of Season 1 reads:

"The Runarounds (from the creator of Outer Banks) follows a group of recent high school graduates who form a band in the hopes of escaping the mundane futures that are laid out before them. As the band pursues their big break and near impossible dream over the course of a summer, they fall in love and into trouble along the way."

However, after the series's release, it failed to attract enough viewership and did not perform strongly on the main streaming charts. It also failed to make it into Nielsen's Top 10 rankings due to the low viewership.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, held last year in September, the creator Jonas Pate also shared his plans to run the show for five seasons, explaining that the story would follow the band's journey from small tours to bigger stages, eventually showing them become a major music act.

The band will begin performing live on April 7, with their tour reportedly set to end on June 21.
