Sheriff Country Season 1 recap: Boone and Mickey find out Alec's real identity

The Sheriff Country Season 1 finale took things in a new direction, especially with Alec. According to The TV Cave, he gets into bed with Mickey after midnight and even makes breakfast in the morning. He stacks the cracked eggshells just like he stacked the rocks at McGuire's murder scene.
Miranda later shows up at Mickey's door looking for her missing son, Rick. And to show that they don't know each other, they act very differently. But Mickey is smart, and she starts noticing that something is off between the two as she watches their conversation. She decides to call Boone and pretends to agree with Alec to show everything is normal, and he is not on her radar.
They later find Rick's body, and this gives Cassidy and Boone a reason to go back to where he was last seen. They find Andy, who saw the shooting, and Boone brings the news back to Mickey and Alec. While Alec tries to stop the conversation, his habit gets in the way as he starts stacking the sticky notes.
Boone figures out the connection between his habit and the McGuire crime scene. But it turns out Mickey also knew that Alec is none other than Mr. X when Boone tells her. Mickey tells Miranda the truth about Alec, but she still refuses to turn against him.
Sheriff Country Season 1 recap: Mickey and Boone set a trap for Alec
Now it was time to trap Alec, which wasn't going to be so easy. Mickey and Boone came up with a plan and decided to make Alec think Mickey has found the $2 million in stolen DEA money. As a result, he shows up at her house and even starts asking questions. Meanwhile, Boone and Santos decide to listen to the whole conversation from nearby through a hidden wire.
At this point, Mickey just wanted Alec to admit to what he did and even agreed with his plan when he told her that they should go to Mexico in his private plane. However, just when they were about to leave, she brought up Skye, and Alec dug up his own grave by saying that she was safe. This just gave him away, and they both reached out for their guns, realizing that the truth was out.
Meanwhile, in Sheriff Country, Cassidy visits Hank in the hospital while he remains there for his recovery. But she gets jealous when she sees a nurse flirting with him. The episode also reveals a big thing, and that is Hank's real name, which is Enrique Iglesias. Later, Cassidy admits that everything she has seen on the job is getting to her, and she might leave the force. Cassidy even brings Andy to the station and soon learns he is Punch's estranged brother.
As for Skye, she tries to get Wes to take the Feds' deal before sitting down with Travis.
Sheriff Country Season 1 recap: Mickey learns the truth about Santos

In Sheriff Country, Alec admits to everything and says that he did it out of love for Mickey. Alec dies after Santos shoots him as he reaches for another hidden gun after being shot by Mickey.
Boone is also shot. Thankfully, he makes it through. Mickey and Boone talk to each other, and he asks her not to shut herself off because of Alec and what happened. On the other hand, Miranda gets arrested, and Travis and Skye take over Fraley. As for Hank, he goes back to work.
Mickey also learns that Wes agrees to go undercover with a dangerous Bulgarian crime family, but she decides that she doesn't want to take part in the mission. But Santos does not let Mickey walk away that easily. Before viewers could see more twists and turns, Wes threw another reveal by dropping the news that Santos is Mickey's long-lost mother, Maria.
While Paramount has not released an official Sheriff Country Season 2 synopsis yet, the Season 1 finale gives us a few clues about what the new season will include. Viewers will likely get to see Mickey and Wes join forces with Eva and the DEA as they go after the Bulgarian cartel.
Sheriff Country Season 2 is scheduled to premiere on October 9 at 8 PM ET/PT on CBS.
