The Simpsons Season 38 Episode 2 recap: Bart and Lisa adopt a baby chimp

The episode begins with a glimpse of First Church of Springfield as the Sunday school teacher, Ms. Albright, seems heartbroken about her ex-husband's affair as she exclaims,
"Her spray tan was on my sheet."
Unable to process the grief, she asks the attendees to watch a video of Itchy and Scratchy instead. The attendees seem happy, though with an altered version of Itchy and Scratchy. However, Krusty the Clown has a lot to complain about and calls it a financial calamity.

Larry H. Lawyer Jr. mentions the changes are inevitable as he shows an altered version of Popeye: The Stoner Man's Dispensary, and Skinny the Poo. Krusty decides to make Krusty Babies, and, well, it has a baby chimp in it. He tries to direct the babies and the animal; however, it does not work. The baby chimp throws the pie in Krusty's face. Krusty asks the baby chimp to be taken away.
When Lisa and Bart find the baby chimp in the little book house, they decide to adopt him. Lisa names the chimp, Mr. Goodboy. However, Homer and Marge are not quite sure about keeping the chimp as a pet. Marge, however, adds,
"Just give it some time. It will fall apart before we know it. One diaper change for Bart and he is out."
Bart tries to use Mr. Goodboy as an expandable prank prop, but his plan backfires. He promises to keep the baby chimp out of danger. Lisa checks out Marge's parenting books, but she fails. Lisa gives the baby chimp a bubble bath. Homer and Marge are still suspicious, and they watch a YouTube video.
The Simpsons Season 38 Episode 2 recap: Homer struggles to co-exist with the baby chimp
Homer watches a YouTube video that shows baby chimps turning violent and dangerous once they grow older. He finds out that an adult chimp is ten times stronger than a man and their canines can be dangerous. The video further shows that a pet chimp can perceive a human caretaker, especially a male, as a threat and rip his face or bite off his genitals.
Homer gets afraid as the baby chimp and Marge bond. Lisa and Bart argue over their parenting styles. Elsewhere, Homer gets nightmares about the baby chimp ripping his face off. Lisa and Bart start to fight as parents. Lisa and Bart bring the baby chimp to school, and they decide to see a therapist. However, the therapist got defunded, and Nelson is now a therapist. As Lisa and Bart reveal their feelings, Nelson gives them some good advice, and they solve their differences.
