The Traitors Season 4 Episode 6 recap: Mirror, Mirror
The Traitors Season 4 Episode 6 is the middle point, and it presents one of the most dramatic episodes so far. Alliances are breaking, suspicions sharpen, and a Traitor is unmasked. The game now enters a much more dangerous phase.
The episode begins at the same point where the last episode left us, in the Turret, where Fiona, Rachel, and Stephen are confronting the consequences of their increasingly mistrustful relationship. Fiona accuses Rachel of not defending Stephen and her previous revelation about Amanda being a former police detective. Rachel resists, and this is no longer a subtle play but an open Traitor vs Traitor warfare.
Stephen gets caught between the two, making both parties calm down in order to concentrate on what is at hand: choosing the next murder. Although they finally reconcile, it is evident that their friendship has been destroyed. Now, Fiona and Rachel are not playing as a team; they are playing to survive.
The players are informed that Reece is dead at breakfast. Later, the Traitors refer to it as a “mercy kill.” Reece had long been a Faithful, and his apparent emotional sufferings had rendered him an easy target. By killing a person that the group already trusted, the Traitors aim to ensure suspicion does not point at them.
Theories are whirling around the table, but a quiet tension between Fiona and Rachel soon becomes the order of the day. In The Traitors Season 4 Episode 6, Host Claudia Winkleman comes to introduce the task of the day, called Mirror, Mirror. Players are divided into three groups, Blue, Green, and Red, and sent off on various forest routes.
In this, every group of contestants will have mirrors along the way, which will pose questions about the other contestants. The responses will be based on the questionnaires that everybody filled out the previous night. Each correct answer is added to the prize pot of £500 ($670) and has the potential of up to £6,000 ($8044).
The stakes go beyond money. The team that has the most correct answers will be allowed entry to the Walled Garden of the castle, where they will have a special advantage. The mission concludes in a draw, yet the Blue Team responds quickest and enters the Walled Garden. They discover five mirrors inside. They need to break them one at a time. When smoke pours out, that player gets an opportunity to question the Traitors.
There are three mirrors emitting smoke, which provide Harriet, Matthew, and Rachel with access to the confessional. They will all be permitted to put two questions to the Traitors, who will answer them in writing, though they are under no obligation to tell the truth.
The Blue Team is willing to keep this advantage confidential. Nevertheless, Harriet is already becoming suspicious of Rachel and interprets the previous confrontations with Fiona as potential Traitor-on-Traitor warfare.
One of the moments in The Traitors Season 4 Episode 6, full of tension, offers a surprising amount of comedy. In one conversation about likability, Roxy presents herself as the likeliest person and is met with complete silence. The awkward silence turns into one of the humorous moments of reality television.
Later in the day, Jessie still suspects Stephen, a theory she has believed since a few episodes. Fiona attempts to protect him quietly, but it is getting more and more challenging. Ellie puts yet another spin on the speculation, going back to the earlier remarks by Amanda and speculating that either Sam or Jade might be Traitors. Meanwhile, Harriet becomes more persuaded that there is something darker about the actions of Rachel.
Feeling in danger, Stephen strives to shift the suspicion elsewhere, setting the stage for a melodramatic Round Table. Once the Round Table starts, Fiona and Rachel clash once more and bring the whole group into the dispute. There is the talk, the theat, and the uproar. In Season 4 Episode 6, Stephen provides an emotional, tearful, almost theatrical performance. In the vote, he appalls the table by scribbling Fiona, turning on his fellow Traitor.
In a confusing twist in The Traitors Season 4 Episode 6, Fiona votes in favor of Sam, which makes no sense to nearly anyone and throws even more red flags in the air. Jessie adds weight to the argument against Fiona by reminding her that she was among the “Library Five” who had previously targeted Ross. The votes stack up, and Fiona is banished.
When the revelation comes, Fiona confirms that she is a Traitor, and it is an earthquake! It sends a shockwave and a wave of celebration through the group. Stephen still cries when she goes, only adding to his portrayal of the devastated Faithful.
Finally, in the diary room, Fiona lets out a twist, even though they are at war; she admires how Rachel plays the game and even wishes that she wins. She also makes a purposeful decision not to reveal Rachel on her way out, an action that can have significant ramifications. Fiona being sent away also leaves Jessica and her long-held theory about Stephen in a condition of reprieve.
When one assumes that The Traitors Season 4 Episode 6 is drawing to a close, the confessional gives a breathtaking cliffhanger. Matthew questions the Traitors about who they will kill next, and they say Jessie. Rather than retreating, Matthew offers an unprecedented suggestion: He asks them to murder Jessie and then recruit him at the next opportunity. Rachel and Stephen are caught totally off guard by the move. Due to the confessional twist, no murder is done that night, and the game is left in the air.
By the mid-point, The Traitors have mostly remained under the radar. However, the cracks are beginning to form. The instincts of Harriet are becoming sharp, Rachel is more vulnerable than ever, and a bold gamble by Matthew would have the potential to permanently redefine the balance of power.
One Traitor is dead, and friends are changing sides. The Traitors has now passed into its most dangerous period.
