Before Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 3 is released, here's the only Season 2 recap you need to stay up to date.

Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 2 recap

Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 2 began with Kimmie getting married to Horace Bellarie, who had been terminally ill. Following their marriage, Horace named Kimmie the chief operating officer (COO) of the Beauty in Black hair care empire when he got tired of his children's entitlement and corruption.

Horace's decision didn't sit well with his children or the extended Bellarie family. His sons Roy and Charles, his brother Norman, and his resentful ex-wife Olivia, who believe the empire is their birthright, were all unhappy with his decision. Despite no one liking this new change in leadership, Kimmie tried to adapt to her new life, wealth, and privilege while trying to protect her sister, Sylvie, and friends, Rain and Angel, from the criminal underworld still haunting them.

Mallory Bellarie, Roy's wife, spent the first half of the season fighting Kimmie for control of the business. However, her focus changed when she discovered her husband was having an affair with Felicia. In a fit of rage after catching Roy and Felicia together at their home, Mallory locked them inside their bedroom and intentionally rammed her SUV into the mansion, setting the house on fire. Roy and Felicia survived the fire.

After that ordeal, Mallory discovered that Roy had placed illegal shell companies in her name. Realizing she needed a way out, Mallory joined forces with Kimmie and Horace to gather evidence and dismantle the rest of the toxic family. Horace recovered from his illness in Italy and soon returned to take charge of the business and the family.

Tyler Perry's Beauty in Black Season 2 also had a gruesome death. Jules's son Glen died after Rain mistakenly pushed him out of a window thinking he was assaulting Sylvie, whereas they were engaging in consensual sexual activity. The fall left him brain-dead in the hospital, and Jules decided to take him off life support. Jules kept searching for what happened to his son and even kidnapped Sylvie for information, but knowing she was under Horace's protection, he backed off. He's yet to find out who is responsible for his son's death.

During an important shareholders' meeting, Norman and Roy confidently incriminated themselves while boasting about their illegal shell companies and money-laundering operations. Horace entered the meeting to announce that he had successfully checkmated them. He had secretly handed over all their financial tracking and state's evidence to the authorities, and the FBI had launched a secret investigation.

Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 2 ended with federal agents arresting Jules, Norman, Roy, Olivia, and Charles. At the end of the season, we saw Kimmie in full control of the empire. However, with the majority of the Bellarie family arrested, she now has to do everything to hold on to her new position and have a good working relationship with Mallory.

The first two seasons of Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black are streaming on Netflix. Tyler Perry’s Beauty in Black Season 3 will be released on Netflix on August 27, 2026.
