Following their marriage, Horace named Kimmie the chief operating officer (COO) of the Beauty in Black hair care empire when he got tired of his children's entitlement and corruption.Horace's decision didn't sit well with his children or the extended Bellarie family. His sons Roy and Charles, his brother Norman, and his resentful ex-wife Olivia, who believe the empire is their birthright, were all unhappy with his decision. Despite no one liking this new change in leadership, Kimmie tried to adapt to her new life, wealth, and privilege while trying to protect her sister, Sylvie, and friends, Rain and Angel, from the criminal underworld still haunting them. Mallory Bellarie, Roy's wife, spent the first half of the season fighting Kimmie for control of the business. However, her focus changed when she discovered her husband was having an affair with Felicia. In a fit of rage after catching Roy and Felicia together at their home, Mallory locked them inside their bedroom and intentionally rammed her SUV into the mansion, setting the house on fire.
