The Walking Dead: Dead City just proved Negan is still one of its most dangerous characters

Before exploring Negan Smith's journey in this coming Sunday's 6th episode of The Walking Dead: Dead City, fans should revisit how he let his old instincts take control and highlighted himself as the most dangerous character in the series. The latest episode, Imperialis, which aired on August 23, exposed Negan's violent form when he pulled the trigger on Fabian's head in front of Renata, despite her desperate attempts to stop him.

In Dillard's bar, Fabian became upset and accused Maggie of causing his family to struggle after she moved them to Manhattan. Negan noticed him carrying a gun and confirmed that the threat was for Maggie. He was unwilling to put Maggie's life in danger, and therefore he seized Fabian's gun and executed him on the spot.

The episode also revealed that Maggie had released her grief, Hershel had returned to her, and the Dama had been swiftly defeated. The season's new characters Renata and Luis aim to rebuild a mission that Maggie is ready to support.

The darkest side of Negan Smith revealed in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 Episode 5

In The Walking Dead: Dead City, Maggie Rhee and Negan Smith were forced allies who had to work together for survival despite a history of trauma. Although they have stopped trying to sabotage or kill each other, their bond has shifted into a mature and neutral truce. It is no longer an intense or fiercely protective connection but a cautious balance that avoids conflicts without creating closeness.

In The Walking Dead: Dead City episode titled Imperialis, Negan refused to be weak like the newcomers and believed that their hopes would only lead to death. From his perspective, real strength comes only from killing those who pose a threat. When Negan realized that Fabian was planning to kill Maggie, he pulled Fabian's own gun on him. Unfortunately, Renata arrived and tried to stop him and insisted that it was not the way issues should be solved, but Negan refused to listen. He pulled the trigger and killed Fabian along with Dillard's pet walker, Cockenspiel.

Negan could have shown regret for Fabian's murder and appeared more sympathetic, but he enjoyed the idea of his inner demons taking control of him. At the end of the episode, Renata declared that Negan was under arrest, and he challenged her to cage him.

Negan's brutal executions of Glenn Rhee and Abraham Ford in the original The Walking Dead series

In the Season 7 premiere of the original The Walking Dead, Negan brutally killed Abraham Ford with his barbed-wire baseball bat named Lucille. He had lined up Rick Grimes' team and played a cruel game of “Eeny, meeny, miny, moe” to choose his victim, Abraham. After defiantly saying his last words, “S*ck my n*ts,” Abraham was beaten to death.

Previously, the lineup was held, but the victim's identity remained a cliffhanger. Glenn Rhee was actually killed after Abraham in the same Season 7 premiere episode as a retaliatory punishment after Daryl Dixon broke formation and lunged at Negan. After being hit with Lucille, Glenn suffered severe brain damage, and his eye bulged out before Negan finished him with repeated blows.
