AMC's The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3 is set to premiere on July 26, 2026. With the return of the beloved series, we will also get to see a new phase in Maggie and Negan's relationship.

Furthermore, the series will also take a new turn as The Walking Dead legend Seth Hoffman joins as the showrunner. Apart from him, it was also reported that Beth Greene, played by Emily Kinney, will also return to the spin-off series, after Beth's death in Season 5 of TWD.

Season 2 of Dead City ended with Maggie sparing Negan's life after trying to kill him with his iconic baseball bat. After watching him kill Bruegel just like he killed Glenn in The Walking Dead Season 7, Maggie couldn't control herself and chased her enemy through the building.

However, she decided not to kill him after seeing him heartbroken at the death of Ginny, who turned into a Zombie. The last time Negan descended into this villainy was after his wife's death. Maggie understood it and decided to leave him alive. It should also be noted that in Season 3 of The Walking Dead: Dead City, we will see the duo make a fresh start in their relationship as Maggie is ready to burn the hatchet and collaborate with him for survival.

Other than them becoming the 'dynamic duo', it was also reported by EW that Season 3 will also have an episode about an alternate reality set in New York. In the Episode, Jeffrey Dean Morgan's Negan will be seen with an ankle monitor. It will also show how they navigate through their lives with no zombies around.

Seth Hoffman joins as the new showrunner

Well-known writer and TWD EP, Seth Hoffman, is replacing Eli Jorné as the showrunner in Season 3 of Dead City. Hoffman is not new to the franchise, as apart from being a producer, he has also written some of the best TWD episodes, such as Too Far Gone, No Way Out, and Us, among others. He also served as the showrunner from Season 4 to 6 of TWD, which are regarded as the best seasons of the post-apocalyptic franchise.

With Hoffman on board, the spin-off might also give us some shocking twists and turns that made the franchise so popular in the first place.

Another spoiler that would leave the franchise fans excited is the return of one of the beloved characters from the TWD universe. Emily Kinney, who portrayed Maggie's younger sister, Beth, is speculated to be returning to the franchise in The Walking Dead: Dead City Season 3.

Beth died in Season 5 of TWD, giving us one of the most heartbreaking moments of the flagship series, and never returned for a flashback sequence. However, leaked set photos suggest that Kinney will reunite with Lauren Cohan, as she was seen on the set of Dead City.
