Filming for The Watcher Season 2 began on October 2, 2026, almost four years after the show was renewed for Season 2. Initially, Netflix confirmed that leading stars Naomi Watts, Bobby Cannavale, Isabel Gravitt, and Margo Martindale are reprising their roles in The Watcher Season 2.Now it has been confirmed that Jennifer Coolidge, who played Karen Calhoun in Season 1 of the show, is also returning for Season 2.Jennifer Coolidge is returning for The Watcher Season 2Loosely based on The Haunting of a Dream House by Reeves Wiedeman, The Watcher Season 1 followed the story of the Brannock family that had just moved into the house on 657 Boulevard. The Brannock family includes parents Dean and Nora and their children Ellie and Carter. The house was sold to them by the estate agent, Karen Calhoun, played by Jennifer Coolidge. View this post on Instagram Instagram PostRight after moving in, the family began receiving terrifying letters from a stranger. They also began experiencing extremely creepy and unexplainable incidents in the house. Many unsettling and traumatizing incidents later, they finally sold the house and moved back into their own house in the city. However, Dean is still obsessed with finding out who the watcher is. In the final scene of Season 1, Dean went back to 657 Boulevard and watched the new owners in the house, in the hope that the watcher might be watching too, and he might get a clue as to who the perpetrator is.As Netflix recently confirmed, Jennifer Coolidge will be reprising her role as Karen Calhoun in The Watcher Season 2. This new update suggests that Season 2 will be much more interesting than anticipated. While the return of Watts, Cannavale, Gravitt, and Martindale as Nora, Dean, Ellie, and Maureen, respectively, was exciting news, Coolidge's return means something else entirely.Coolidge's Karen was the one who sold the nightmare house to Dean and Nora but then spent the entirety of Season 1 urging Nora to sell the house. Karen even went on to suggest that Nora divorce her husband, Dean, to sell the house if needed. This behavior of hers made the family suspect her of being the watcher or being associated with whoever the watcher was, perhaps to try to force the family out to sell the house for a profit. Moreover, towards the end of the season, Karen got an article published about what was happening at 657 Boulevard. She did that to sabotage the Brannock family's sale of the house and force the property's value down so she could ultimately buy it herself. At the end of the season, Karen made an LLC offer on the house and bought it, without revealing it was her behind the purchase, but Nora found out.The season finale also revealed that Karen eventually sold the house to new owners. Now that Netflix has confirmed Karen's return in The Watcher Season 2, it could mean that she's really somehow connected to the watcher. She could still be part of the story as a greedy realtor, but there's still a chance of her getting revealed as an antagonist. The Watcher Season 2 is currently being filmed. Season 1 is streaming on Netflix. For more articles like this, follow Soapcentral.
