NCIS is back for Season 24, and Katrina Law, who plays Jessica Knight in the show, has been giving interviews as part of the press tour. In a recent interview with CBS News, Law talked about her character's evolution and her daughter starring in a future NCIS episode.
She also talked about how she feels about the growing influence of AI in the film industry.
NCIS's Katrina Law on how she sees AI in films
NCIS star Katrina Law appeared on CBS News recently. On the episode, Law revealed how her daughter came to star in one of the episodes of NCIS Season 24. Law said that her daughter had been visiting the set for the past several years and had one day spontaneously pitched herself for the show.
She had expressed that she wanted to appear on the show, help her mother solve a crime, and perhaps speak Mandarin. The writers were surprised by the suggestion, but about two months before the episode, they asked Law whether her daughter was serious about it and whether she would let her participate, as they had written a role for her.
As a result, Law's daughter got to guest-star alongside her in an episode of NCIS, which Law described as the most magical and wonderful experience. She added that she was extremely proud of her daughter. Following on that, Law was asked if she would encourage her daughter to go into acting given how AI is being integrated into the industry.
Law responded to that by saying:
"There's always going to be some iteration of the fine arts..."
She continued:
"... who knows what that means in 20 years from now, but whatever it is, I feel like we just need to keep up with it and kind of try to figure it out before it takes over."
Law is thus not entirely against the use of AI in Hollywood but hopes that the industry can use it without letting it consume the fine arts as we know them.
Katrina Law also talked about how her character is evolving this season. She said:
"It's interesting because Jessica Knight has always been a character that has kind of been the heart of the boys club and she's kind of kept the boys together and she's had a little bit of a mother hen role, but this year she really takes that to heart..."
Law explained that this season Jessica has added responsibility to take care of newly appointed NCIS Director, Anthony DiNozzo (played by Michael Weatherly), on the request of Ziva. She also has to make sure Torres is doing well. She concluded by saying:
"It's really kind of insane for her this year."
Jessica is thus dealing with a lot, and we will most likely see things get a little harder for her as the season continues. Law also revealed that we will see her daughter in a future episode this season, which will air in November 2026.
New episodes of NCIS Season 24 come out on CBS on Tuesdays at 8 pm ET. All released episodes are available for streaming on Paramount+.
