Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man film is on its way, with Cillian Murphy reprising his role as the charming yet fierce Tommy Shelby. The first teaser is now out via Netflix, and it depicts Tommy emerging from exile as Britain enters World War II.

The trailer begins with a voice that poses the question: What happened to Tommy Shelby? He claims to be not that man anymore; however, the fast alternating shots of explosions, guns, and enemies tell otherwise. It is grim, fierce, and reeking of the same threatening vibe that popularised the Peaky Blinders Netflix series.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is a promising comeback of one of the most iconic anti-heroes of television, with familiar characters and new faces joining in. It is set to premiere on March 6, 2026.

Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man trailer breakdown

The first trailer for Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man is a brief but quick reminder to the fans why they like the Shelbys. It begins with enigma and suspense, with voices enquiring why Tommy abandoned his empire and his son, who now runs the Peaky Blinders, and to this he answers,

“I can't help him because I’m not that man anymore.”

But the calm doesn’t last. We are introduced to glimpses of violence, burning of photos, and indications that his past is back to haunt him.

The story is set in the 1940s in Birmingham, during World War II, and the focus shifts from street gangs to bigger dangers such as secret missions and national threats. The trailer also alludes to a new generation of Blinders. Short close-ups of actors such as Barry Keoghan imply emerging rivals and allies. Dark visuals, ringing phones, and gunshots bring out the message quite clearly: once back in the world of Tommy Shelby, there’s no easy escape.

What's at stake?

In addition to the action and the stylish shots in the trailer, Peaky Blinders: The Immortal Man seems to be ready to increase the emotional and historical stakes. The movie is termed as a sequel and finale by the writer and creator Steven Knight, set many years after the ending of the series, as Tommy experiences greater pressures than ever.

This time, Tommy is not merely fighting off rival gangs. The trailer presents a world that is at war with bombed cities, underground meetings, and dangerous alliances. His actions are not only impacting his family but also the nation. It reminds us that his story has always been about survival and leaving behind a legacy, and not just about power.

Fans will get their favorite characters, such as Sophie Rundle as Ada and Stephen Graham as Hayden Stagg, together with some new faces like Barry Keoghan as Tommy’s illegitimate son Duke, Tim Roth as British Fascist Beckett, and Rebecca Ferguson in an unknown role.

It can be a story of redemption or final reckoning, but the movie is guaranteed to bring a larger and more heartfelt chapter to the legend of Tommy Shelby. March 2026 feels very far away at present.
