VisionQuest Episode 7 ends on a cliffhanger that no one saw coming. It seems Ultron might not be a completely original AI like he believed himself to be. The closing minutes reveal Paladin's client: The human form of Ultron played by James Spader. However, we are not given the new character's name.

We will learn more about this client, including his name, in next week's episode, which is titled "Forever." The upcoming VisionQuest episode is also set to be the finale, which will tie up all the loose ends. But I think that this mysterious client could be a secret Horton all along.

VisionQuest Episode 7 opens in 1939 and introduces Dr. Phineas Horton

The seventh episode opens in 1939, as we see Phineas Horton selling off his mansion to finance The Synthetic Man, or J.I.M., as he is referred to in the series. It seems that Horton is unable to mourn his son James' death, and ends up alienating his wife and daughter. It seems that he ultimately succeeded in creating J.I.M.

We don't know who he is selling the mansion to, and we may learn the identity of the buyer in next week's finale. Thus, James Spader's human character could be a descendant of the buyer, as well. But there is a reason why Spader's human VisionQuest character could hail from the Horton family.

The penultimate episode confirms that Dr. Josephine Carrington worked with this mysterious character

The other major mystery this episode comes close to solving is Jocasta's past as the human Dr. Josephine Carrington. The third act sees Jocasta remembering her past, but we are told only a portion of it. We learn that Carrington had won an award for her work in the field of AI. However, we are also told that she had a male colleague in this endeavor, but we don't see his face, not until the last scene.

We learn that Carrington's colleague has the same face as that of Ultron. We don't know his name yet, but we will get that next week. This unnamed character also says the line “peace in our time,” the line we first heard in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Thus, we could also assume that this unnamed character might have met Tony Stark, which would have prompted the billionaire playboy to recall “peace in our time” in Age of Ultron. The unnamed character's knowledge of AI also suggests that he could be a Horton.

As for Ultron's reason for using the face and voice, he could've chosen an identity of a man who hails from the family of Phineas Horton, the man who has been described as the "great-grandfather of robotics." Plus, James Spader's human character also promised Vision a heart, which is why we think that he is from the Horton family.

Ultron seems to be aware of his human counterpoint:

Ultron could have been lying when he claimed to E.D.I.T.H. that he was created in the Avengers Tower by Tony Stark and Dr. Bruce Banner. Early in this VisionQuest episode, Paladin Spader's character had sent Jocasta and Ultron to an apartment. Inside that apartment, Jocasta is recollecting her past. Meanwhile, F.R.I.D.A.Y. disguised as a bot enters the same room.

Ultron, who knows F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s disguise and offered to help her early in the episode, betrays her by "killing" her. This scene hints that Ultron was aware of his human counterpoint. Therefore, it seems that the main antagonist of the Disney+ MCU sci-fi series is none other than Ultron and this mysterious new character.
