VisionQuest Episode 3 featured a heartbreaking monologue by F.R.I.D.A.Y. in which she reveals her past trauma from the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame. Lying at the heart of the monologue is F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s guilt of failing to save Tony Stark's life in Avengers: Endgame after he snapped his fingers. But F.R.I.D.A.Y. confirms one thing.

For the first time since 2019, the episode confirms that the AI program ran through various scenarios to ensure Stark's survival, but she couldn't find any. Thus, VisionQuest finally dismisses a long-running fan theory, which has been circulating ever since Robert Downey Jr.'s return as Victor von Doom was announced.

What is the fan theory that VisionQuest dismissed?

Robert Downey Jr. was announced as Victor von Doom in July 2024. Since then, many fans believe that Strange lied to Tony in Avengers: Infinity War when he said that there was only one way in which the good guys could win. That one way was finally revealed in the last act of Avengers: Endgame, as the one where Tony Stark sacrifices his life to snap Thanos and his army.

Fans believe that Doctor Strange saw Doom with Tony Stark's face in the future, and thus the sorcerer decided to lie to the billionaire hero, to doom him. However, F.R.I.D.A.Y.'s VisionQuest monologue confirms that Strange did not lie to Tony about there being only one way. However, this acquittal might be too late, as Doctor Strange may have taken a darker turn.

Stephen Strange might be on Doom's side in Avengers: Doomsday:

Countless Avengers: Doomsday leaks have suggested the presence of a mysterious character called "Boris". Leaks have hinted that this Boris is none other than Doctor Strange. It should be noted that we saw the sorcerer for the last time in the post-credit scene of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. There, Strange joins Clea to solve an incursion that she said he caused.

We have heard nothing about Strange. Therefore, rumors continue to circulate that Clea and Strange run into Doom and decide to join him. If Boris is indeed Doctor Strange, we think that he will be instrumental in Victor von Doom winning. Doomsday is following Avengers: Infinity War's playbook, meaning the villain will win, but it will also leave a door open for a follow-up in which the heroes win.

Thus, several leaks have suggested that Doom will win the day by rewriting all of reality at the end of Avengers: Doomsday, setting up Avengers: Secret Wars, releasing next year. Apart from Doctor Strange, Avengers: Doomsday might bring back another character last seen in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.

The Scarlet Witch might return through the VisionQuest finale:

Marvel displayed three costumes from Avengers: Doomsday labeled "Latverian Witches". These witches wear masks, and we can even see them behind Doom in a recent poster.

Countless rumors have suggested that one of these witches is Wanda, something even fans believe. VisionQuest could just set up her return, as WandaVision plays a key role in the series. Two characters from WandaVision, Vision and Tommy Maximoff, are already main characters of the Vision series.

Therefore, it won't be surprising that the finale could feature a cameo by Wanda or even address her fate. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ended with Mount Wundagore collapsing on Wanda, and we haven't seen her since then. The finale of the Vision series could finally set up her return either by a cameo or even a line of dialogue.

As for Vision, Tommy, and Billy's role in Doomsday, it is unlikely that the three characters could appear in the movie. However, they could be in Avengers: Secret Wars. But that remains to be seen for now.
