VisionQuest features the personified versions of many AIs created by Tony Stark, which includes E.D.I.T.H. She is modeled after a real person, Edith Marks, a Stark Industries test pilot. While she possesses access to some extremely dangerous weapons, she's chaotic and loves to have fun.Among the other rather serious AIs of the show, E.D.I.T.H. stands out. Emily Hampshire, who plays her, has now revealed the inspiration behind E.D.I.T.H.'s personality.Emily Hampshire reveals how VisionQuest's E.D.I.T.H. carries Stark's legacy and Peter Parker's teen instinctsE.D.I.T.H. was first introduced in the MCU in Spider-Man: Far From Home. At the time, E.D.I.T.H. was a calm, disembodied user-interface voice integrated into a high-tech pair of aviator sunglasses. The sunglasses were a posthumous gift left to Peter Parker by Tony Stark. View this post on Instagram Instagram PostWe see a personified version of the AI in VisionQuest, who is loud, bubbly, and always trying to have fun. In an interview with Pop Base, Emily Hampshire was asked what the inspiration behind the personified version of E.D.I.T.H. was. Hampshire said that she went back to the origin of the AI, which was Spider-Man: Far From Home, where we heard E.D.I.T.H. for the first time. She then said:"I was like, if Tony Stark bottled his essence and put it in a pair of sunglasses and named her E.D.I.T.H., for the acronym, Even Dead I'm the Hero - so she starts kind of as a joke and kind of as you know his way of living on, I guess."Hampshire thus sees E.D.I.T.H. as a part of Tony Stark's legacy, which, in a way, she is. Hampshire continued:"And she can control all these weapons, and he gives her to a teenager. Who would this AI be when she's let out of the glasses? And that to me was instantly, she wants to have fun, but her idea of fun is like blowing things up so it's this very heightened sense of fun."As we've seen so far, E.D.I.T.H. can control weapons, and her idea of fun includes some extremely questionable activities. Irrespective of that, she's a blend of both Stark's legacy and Peter Parker's instincts when he was a teenager.Besides Hampshire, VisionQuest also stars Paul Bettany as Vision, James Spader as Ultron, Orla Brady as F.R.I.D.A.Y., Henry Lewis as D.U.M.-E., Jonathan Sayer as U., James D'Arcy as J.A.R.V.I.S., T'Nia Miller as Josephine Carrington and Jocasta, Ruaridh Mollica as Tommy Maximoff, and Todd Stashwick as Paladin, among others.Created by Terry Matalas, VisionQuest is produced by Roopesh Parekh. The show is executive produced by Kevin Feige, Louis D'Esposito, Brad Winderbaum, Paul Bettany, Mary Livanos, Matalas, Jac Schaeffer, and Christopher J. Byrne. Marvel Television is the production company behind the show.VisionQuest premiered on October 13, 2026, and 4 episodes of the show have aired so far.
