Rachel Nickell believed she was in the early stage of pregnancy at the time of her murder on July 15, 1992, and thought it was never medically confirmed. Her son Alex has shared a painful story of his family's history while on an interview with The Times.

He mentioned that her mother became pregnant for a second time about a year before her murder. At that time, she and her partner Andre mutually agreed to have an abortion due to the financial pressure of raising a toddler in South London.

According to reports, the decision took an immense psychological toll on her. Alex said that his mother never really recovered emotionally from the decision they made and frequently struggled with feelings of deep regret for the child they had decided not to bring into the world.

Since the pregnancy was at a very early stage, doctors could not confirm it through medical tests or later in the autopsy. So, it was never a part of the public trial.

Still, at home, Rachel and Andre believed it was real. They quietly celebrated, seeing it as a chance to recover from the pain of the past year and to grow their family.

While The Witness has successfully revisited almost every detail of the tragic case it did leave out an intimate part of the story - Rachel's chance to become a mother for the second time before her murder. Her son Alex's statements have further confirmed the emotional turmoil his family went through.

In the latest Netflix docuseries on Rachel Nickell, Max Fincham played Alex Hanscombe along with Jahsaiah Williams as young Alex, Kerry Godliman as Grandma June, Neil Maskell as DI Keith Pedder, Kevin Eldon as DCI Mick Wickerson, and Steve Stamp as the killer, Robert Napper.
