While Stranger Things came to an end last year, the show's legacy was being carried forward by Tales from '85. Now, a new live-action spinoff of the original show titled Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure is in development at Netflix.

The show will be set in the 1950s, decades before Will was taken to the Upside Down, Eleven fought the mindflayer, and Vecna wreaked havoc in Hawkins, Indiana.

Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure takes us to yet another story connected to the Upside Down

Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure is not only a spinoff of the original show but also serves as its prequel. It is also set before the events of the stage play The First Shadow. The series will be set in the 1950s, in Marion, Nevada.

Interestingly, it is the same state where a young Henry Creel had encountered a rogue scientist, who was carrying the Mind Flayer particles in a briefcase. As the first teaser revealed, the main event around which the show will revolve takes place on April 19, 1955.

The teaser is captioned with:

Before Hawkins, there was Marion.

Thanks to the original show, we know that Dr. Martin Brenner began his experiments on the test subjects in approximately 1959. The prequel not only takes us to a different town in a different state but to a time before Brenner's experiments.

The teaser also revealed that the series will deal with a certain location, which is a restricted area. In the teaser, we see a bicycle lying on the ground beside a barbed wire fence. There's a signboard on the fence that says:

WARNING
RESTRICTED AREA

That is followed by:

"IT IS UNLAWFUL TO ENTER THIS AREA WITHOUT PERMISSION OF THE INSTALLATION COMMANDER (SEC. 21, INTERNAL SECURITY ACT OF 1950, 50 U.S.C. 797) PHOTOGRAPHY IS PROHIBITED USE OF DEADLY FORCE AUTHORIZED

From what is evident, the upcoming series might also deal with a facility that experiments on human beings. However, how the owners of this facility got access to the Mindflayer particles is yet to be revealed. Moreover, the upcoming series might have a connection to Henry Creel because he got his powers before 1955.

The upcoming series is created by The Duffer Brothers and Kate Trefry. Trefry, who was a writer on Stranger Things, is also the showrunner, writer, and executive producer of the upcoming spinoff.

Other executive producers of the show are Joe Wright, Matt and Ross Duffer, Shawn Levy, Paul Dichter, Shelley Meals, Andrea Sperling, and Pavlina Hatoupis. Wright is going to direct the first three episodes of the show. The production companies behind the show are Upside Down Pictures and 21 Laps. Filming for the series will take place in New Mexico.

According to Tudum by Netflix, Matt and Ross Duffer spoke about the spinoff, saying:

"We’ve been dreaming of Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure for many years now, and to see it become a reality is surreal and exhilarating."

They also said:

"It’s Stranger Things, but also thrillingly fresh, with a new setting, new heroes and villains, and new … actually, we’re not allowed to say any more."

They ended the conversation by saying:

"watch the skies, nerds!"

No specific release date for Other Worlds: A Stranger Things Adventure has been revealed so far. But as the teaser revealed, the spinoff is scheduled for a 2028 release.
