The first part of Bridgerton Season 4 ended with Benedict Bridgerton asking Sophie Baek to be his mistress. The unsettling moment set the tone for the show's second part as fans are sitting with the conflict of what their future could look like.

Showrunner Jess Brownell has spoken about what she thinks will happen, noting that it's completely unlikely that Sophie will actually accept the offer. Speaking to Tudum, she stated,

“For Sophie, the idea of being a mistress is the worst possible thing she could be asked. Sophie really doesn’t want to ever put a child in the situation she was in. Despite societal rules, there is a part of Sophie that’s hoping that Benedict could see beyond [the ton] and that what they have is so special it could overcome the obstacles of class.”

What happens when Benedict finally realizes the truth about Sophie?

Sophie's response isn't the only thing fans are looking forward to. Benedict is also yet to realize that the Lady in Silver and Sophie are the same person, and fans are looking forward to how he would react to the revelation, and even more, how the revelation would come to him.

Her true identity as a maid, her troubling past and her place in society as someone born out of an illicit affair who has been shunned her whole life, all of this will contribute to her arc in the coming episodes. The show will comment on the social construct of class and it's rigidity, making sure to answer and explore some uncomfortable but necessary things in the episodes that will come.

Beyond the central romance, part 2 will also continue Francesca Bridgerton’s exploration of her sexuality and Eloise Bridgerton and her complicated relationship with social expectations and independence. We will also see the Queen's influence on the marriage market as she bets for Benedict, and of course, more fan favorite scenes of Penelope and Colin and Kate and Anthony.

By the time the final four episodes unfold, Bridgerton season 4 part 2 promises reckoning over romance and growth over grand gestures. Benedict and Sophie’s story is no longer about longing across a ballroom, it is about whether love can survive once the masks come off.

Bridgerton Season 4 Part 2 will come out on February 26.
