What is Doctor on the Edge about?

The story of the K-drama revolves around Do Ji Ui, played by Lee Jae Wook, who is a plastic surgeon. He is sent to a remote island named Pyeondong to its public health center for three years as part of his mandatory military service in South Korea.

As he starts working there, he gets pulled into nonstop medical emergencies. Thanks to Nurse Yook Ha Ri, he learns how to work under extreme pressure as they deal with the tense situation together. In the trailer of the series, she tells Do Ji Ui:

"Sometimes to save someone, you have to cross a line."

The drama explores their journey of how they save people under tough circumstances while falling for each other as they work side by side.

Speaking of the drama, director Lee Myung-woo revealed that while he first thought Doctor Seom Boy was only about a young doctor doing his duty in a remote place, during the production, he realized the story is bigger and also includes themes like personal development, romance, recovery, and suffering.

The project was first rejected by him because it had a light tone and seemed hard to adapt, but the director eventually decided to move forward with it after seeing the deeper ideas about growth and healing.
