Hulu's new TV series, titled Not Suitable For Work, comes straight from Mindy Kaling and follows five young professionals trying to build their careers while dealing with friendships, dating, and everyday life in New York City. The story takes place in Manhattan's Murray Hill neighborhood and shows how life becomes in your twenties, and work takes over everything else.

Per Kaling, this new TV series has a lot of drama. She said:

"There's drama in this. There's so much romance, but it's really about five ambitious young people."

She continued:

"And I consider like in my mind, this is the third show in a trilogy of shows that are about my life- Never Have I Ever was about me being in high school, Sex Lives of College Girls was about my time at Dartmouth."

Not Suitable For Work premiered on June 2 with three episodes and will now follow a weekly release schedule. It's basically about a group of five friends who deal with multiple challenges while trying to build a career in NYC.

Not Suitable For Work episodes 1-3 recap

The first episode introduces viewers to five young professionals living in Manhattan's Murray Hill neighborhood. They're passionate about work, but their demanding career and complicated personal lives make things hard for them.

The best friends in the series are AJ and Abby, who share an apartment while chasing their ambitions in New York City. AJ begins a challenging job as a first-year analyst at a prestigious investment bank, and she didn't even realize when long hours and pressure at work became a daily routine for her.

Living across the hall are Davis, Josh, and Kel. Davis works with AJ and is immediately interested in her, but his attempts to get closer to her often lead to awkward and funny situations.

Josh is working on a news show and struggles with the fact that many people think that he got this job only because of family connections. Then Kel starts having doubts about his career, and he realizes that medicine might not be the best path for him.

At the same time, Abby is also facing challenges of her own while working for a well-known stylist. She spends much of her time handling difficult tasks while hoping to build a successful career in fashion.

To make things worse, the friends end up in a chaotic situation during a dinner party. Misunderstandings and clashes take place, and the biggest disaster at the party was Davis's seafood allergy. This way, the first three episodes of Not Suitable For Work proved that the drama has just begun.
