Good news for the subscribers of Apple TV+ as the platform is releasing Widow's Bay on April 29, 2026. This ten-episode series stars Mathew Rhys. Along with Rhys, the series also casts Kate O'Flynn, Stephen Root, Dale Dickey, Kevin Carroll, and Kingston Rumi Southwick. Katie Dippold created the series. The series will be released with its first three episodes.
This upcoming Apple TV+ horror comedy show was filmed across several coastal and inland towns in Massachusetts during the summer and spring of 2025. The show is set on an artificial island off the New England coast. The crew filmed in real towns across Massachusetts to capture the strange and fearful mood of the place. These real settings gave the show its haunting look and made the community feel alive.
Filming was also carried out in locations like Rockport, Gloucester, Essex, Shirley, and other Massachusetts towns like Ayer, Berlin, Danvers, Davens, Harvard, Sudbury, Wayland, and Groton. The story is about a remote New England island where people believe the town is cursed. The plot of the series is based on a mayor who doubts these beliefs and tries to bring in tourists, only to discover that the strange superstitions may be real.

Widow's Bay filming locations
Rockport
The crew memberS of Widow's Bay filmed many scenes and shots at Bearskin Neck. It is a popular spot in this coastal town. Its look and atmosphere made it the perfect stand-in for the village on the fictional island.
Popular films like The Proposal, The Love Letter, and CODA were filmed at Bearskin Neck. The production house of this show used this location to shoot local storefronts.
Gloucester and Essex
It is a cathedral city located in South West England. The city was initially built by the Romans. In AD 97, the city grew into an important city and colony under Emperor Nerva, who named it Colonia Glevum Nervensis.
The location was used for shooting Widow's Bay. Hollywood seems to have a soft spot for fried clams. Essex restaurants often show up in their movies and TV shows. One of the biggest moments came in 2009 when Adam Sandler, Salma Hayek, Chris Rock, and other stars filmed scenes for the hit movie Grown Ups at Woodman's.
On Friday, the crew of Apple TV closed Vita Bella Ristorante. It was once called Winward Grille, on Eastern Avenue. A little further up the road near the Gloucester city line, signs pointed to another set on Forest Lane. The signs at both places listed the project as Flashlight, but crew members told the Local News that the real title is Widow's Bay.
Worcester
It is also a cathedral city in Worcestershire, England. In May 2025, the crew of Widow's Bay filmed at Vincent's Bar on Suffolk Street. Regular seating was swapped out for mismatched chairs and stools, and many props came from the nearby Westerman Prop Warehouse. They changed the inside of the bar to look like a run-down dive that matched the mood of the show.
