Love Island is back with a new season on Peacock. Season 8 premiered on June 2, 2026, with a new set of single islanders looking for love.The premiere kicked off with the introduction of Aniya Harvey. A marketing director by profession and a Georgia resident, Harvey explained that she is ready to find her prince charming on the show. Harvey added that she is quite hopeful to be engaged by the end of the season. Aniya Harvey, a 23-year-old contestant of Love Island, is the daughter of the former NBA player Donnell Harvey. Donnell played for five teams in his career.Donnell's love for basketball started quite young. He played for his high school team and became the consensus 1999 national player of the year. He later took part in the McDonald's All-American game and won the Naismith Award. He was awarded an athletic scholarship and joined the graduation course at the University of Florida. He played for the Florida Gators' men's basketball team in 1999-2000.He started with the Dallas Mavericks in 2000 and then joined the Denver Nuggets in 2002. He further went on to play for the Orlando Magic, Phoenix Suns, Sioux Falls Skyforce, and New Jersey Nets in 2005.After 2005, Donnell Harvey continued playing across other teams. He retired in 2014. However, he continued to mentor young children. As a professional athlete, he wanted to give back to the society where he grew up. He told WRBL News 3 Live,"I want to make sure they’ll be able to get a chance to experience somewhat the same thing I have, and at least have the opportunity to move forward."He crafted a free after-school program for 150-225 students to participate in and engage in sports activities. He further added:"With me, it’s not about me anymore. I feel like God done blessed me to be in a position to be able to bless other people. So it’s really His work. It has nothing to do with me.
