However, Flynn never made it to the live shows; he was eliminated during the Hollywood round. Flynn was working as a worship arts pastor at Living Word Church in Vandalia when he got the chance to be on American Idol Season 12.

According to American Idol's Road to Hollywood Interviews, Flynn is originally from Tipp City, Ohio. After receiving the Golden ticket, he described himself as a crybaby, a trait he said he inherited from his parents. He also called himself a music pastor. Speaking about what makes him unique, Flynn continued,

"I absolutely love the lord. I love my wife, more than anything. I am a normal person who absolutely loves to sing more than anything in the world and I think I have a different sound in my voice I have something to offer."

Who is Ashley Flynn?

Ashley Flynn was Caleb Flynn's wife. She was a teacher in Ohio. According to News Nation, she worked as a substitute teacher and was a coach for the seventh-grade girls' volleyball team at Tippecanoe Middle School. She also taught at LifeWise Academy, an organisation that provided weekly Bible lessons to public school students.

According to People, Ashley was a member of the Christian Life Centre in Dayton. Caleb and Ashley share two preteen daughters, both of whom were present in their Tipp City house when Ashley was murdered.

What happened to Ashley Flynn?

Ashley Flynn, the 37-year-old teacher and volleyball coach, was shot to death on February 16, 2026. Prosecutors alleged that Caleb Flynn shot his wife twice in the back of the head in their bedroom while their preteen daughters were asleep in their room. He apparently set up the crime scene to make it look like a home invasion. He then contacted 911 to report the shooting and murder.

According to the prosecutors, he also texted his mistress saying that he was free. During the trial, his former mistress, Alleigha Botner, testified that Caleb told her that he planned to talk to his wife about divorce on February 16.

When the prosecutors asked her to describe her feelings for Caleb, she said that she hates him. Botner said that she believes it's Caleb who killed his wife. She also testified that the couple spoke about marriage and got matching tattoos. She further claimed that Caleb would often refer to his wife in derogatory terms. She read several text messages during the testimony, in which Caleb apparently said he hated Ashley.

According to ABC News, prosecutors alleged that Caleb killed his wife so that he could be with his mistress. However, defense attorneys claimed that Caleb said hurtful things about his wife to appease his mistress.
