Euphoria Season 3 introduced us to the Miller family, who play a key role in Rue's journey this season. Of the Millers, it seems that it is young Daisy Miller who is the most influential figure in Rue's life, as the former's presence is felt throughout the season, even if she doesn't have many scenes in it.

Actress Jessica Treska plays Daisy in this season, and she returns in the closing minutes of the finale this week. The Miller family served as the source of peace in Rue's life, and their influence rubbed off on her, as she started to believe in God. This change in Rue in Euphoria Season 3 could be attributed to Daisy, who is portrayed as the central figure of peace in the former's life.

Now, Jessica Treska sat down for an interview with Elle after the finale's release, in which she discussed her experience in filming the season.

What did Euphoria's Daisy Miller actress Jessica Treska say?

Firstly, Treska revealed that she did not expect her Euphoria role to be as important as it ended up being. The Elle reporter asked the actress what conversations she had with the makers about Daisy's role in Rue's arc in this season of the HBO series. To this, Jessica Treska answered:

"I have never worked on a show that is more under wraps than this. I did not get the full scripts to anything. All I knew was what was in front of me and the scene that we were doing [at the time]. But Sam made sure that I understood the importance of what Daisy means for Rue. Even when you don’t see Daisy on-screen, Rue is thinking about her interaction with Daisy throughout the show—it leaves a real mark on her. And Rue leaves a real mark on Daisy."

Then, revealing what Sam Levinson said, she continued:

"So I understood how pivotal it was going to be. The producers and Sam definitely let me know that we needed Daisy to feel grounded and to be the antithesis of everything else we’re seeing in the show. So I really tried to be that. I tried to be this girl that is completely untouched by the modern world, by society, by culture, and all of these devilish desires that Rue and everyone else in the show want."

Treska did not know how the show was going to end:

The season 3 finale delivers the shocking twist that this season was building towards: Rue's death. Rue learns that Fez broke out of prison, and she rushes to the convenience store where he used to work. However, the place is boarded up, and we soon realize that this was a hallucination. After a flashback scene featuring Rue and Fez, we see her die due to an overdose.

The Euphoria finale ends with Ali visiting the Miller farm to inform them about Rue's passing. Jessica Treska revealed that she did not know that Rue was dying in this episode in the same interview. Speaking about her reaction to how Rue's character arc ended, Treska said:

"I was shocked. Again, it was nothing like what I had expected Euphoria to put out there. But I was really happy with it because it resonates with me personally, and it resonates with Sam personally."

She then continued:

"For me to be able to play a role in the show that brings the central character to God amidst all of the tragedy and evil that she’s been a part of was really special for me and for Sam, I think. We connected over that, too, because I believe in God. I believe in Rue coming around to what gives her true happiness. So it was really, honestly, special for me to play that role in this show."

All three seasons of Euphoria are currently streaming on HBO Max.
