It can be understood that the woman is significant to him; however, before he is able to speak to her, she leaves. It is later revealed in this episode that Phoebe is also Hawk’s mother.

Right after Hawk comes across Amos, he gets curious about the uniform that Hawk is wearing. He begins to question his profession, as he was not aware that there were Indian policemen around Dodge.

Later, as the episode progresses, Phoebe arrives at Dodge House to speak to Hawk. She is not happy that Hawk found her. Though Hawk tries to tell her that he was eager to speak to her, Phoebe is not interested in any of it. Rather, she says that even though she bore him, she was not his mother, as she was just sixteen years old when his people captured her.

4) Ken Kurtis as Festus

Ken Kurtis brings life to Festus’s character in this episode of the series. At the beginning of this episode, Festus is asked for a favor by Phoebe’s husband, Dave, to look after her while he is gone.

Festus agrees right away as he appreciates Phoebe’s cooking skills. Right at that moment, Hawk also arrives. Festus takes Hawk to meet Matt, the marshal.
