In reality, it was Charles who found his father's dead body, and that scenario was etched with him forever. The past still haunts him after all these years. In the hallucination period, he told his father that it was not his mother's fault. He said that his father has depression and he could help him. His father asked him to stay back in the car, but as Charles was drifting towards his father's words, he heard Goodwin and Archer's voices. He knew it was a trap, and he needed to fight his demons to survive.
