The most-awaited Bridgerton Season 4 Part 1 is finally here on Netflix. This time, the Regency era drama brings Benedict and Sophie Baek's Cinderella-coded love story to the screens. It taps into a fairy tale romance, social class barriers, and hidden identity.
In Season 4, the focus shifts from the glam and glitz of the upper class to the chaotic and busy downstairs crew. Sophie Baek is, in fact, a part of the downstairs crew of the Penwoods. In reality, Lady Penwood is her stepmother, and Rosamund and Posy Li are her stepsisters. However, since she's an illegitimate child of the Earl, Lady Penwood treats her poorly. She makes her do all the chores and belittles her every move.
Only the Penwoods' footman, Alfie, and cook Irme seem to be Sophie's allies in the household. In fact, it's Irma and Alfie who forced Sophie to sneak into the masquerade ball. Alfie is played by David Moorst, while Irma is portrayed by Fiona Marr. You might recognize Fiona Marr from her role as Suzi Campbell at Ted Lasso or as Detective Sato in My Fault: London.
Irma might just be one of Sophie's colleagues at Lady Penwood's house, but she's much more than that. She showers her with love and warmth, which her stepmother and step-sister Rosamund never did. Although Miss Posy Li has always been kind to Sophie. Irma always wants the best for Sophie. Here's more about it.
Bridgerton Season 4: Who is Irma?

Irma is Sophie's colleague at the Penwoods. She is a cook and Sophie's ally. She always wants the best for Sophie. When Sophie rants about how Lady Penwood and Rosamund keep complaining and how she wishes to enjoy a ball once in her life, it is Irma who insists Sophie go to the masquerade ball.
Alfie and Irma sort of force her to sneak into the ball. Alfie arranges the attire, shoes, and carriage while Irma helps her get ready. She adores Sophie when she gets into the silver attire. When Sophie returns from the ball, Irma reveals she has done all of Sophie's work as promised.
When the series rolls into flashback, we see Irma guiding little Sophie when Araminta Hun arrives to marry Lord Penwood. She has been her protector for a long time. Sophie lost her job after Lady Penwood discovered that she snuck into the masquerade ball.
Irma apologized to her, saying that this wouldn't have happened if she had not insisted. Before Sophie left, Irma handed over some money for her to seek accommodation for a while. Irma has always been the fairy godmother figure for Sophie. She has protected her from her childhood.
