Netflix's latest horror series, Something Very Bad is Going to Happen, is a slow-burning and chilling tale of a young couple whose marriage day turns eerie due to a curse. Among the other uncanny sequences, one of the most terrifying events happens in Episode 4 when Rachel learns more about her family and her birth via a grainy VHS footage from 1997. A young couple, Alexandra and Jay, dreamt of building a life together until a curse ruined their lives forever. The young Jay might seem familiar to many in Something Very Bad is Going to Happen. Who is Jay in Something Very Bad is Going to Happen?

Jay is Rachel's father, and the young version of him is played by Logan Miller. While Josh Hamilton plays Jay in the present scenarios, he is the one who shows the footage to Rachel.

In Something Very Bad is Going to Happen Episode 4, Rachel finds out more about her parents via a VHS tape. Rachel knew her mother had passed away when she was a baby, but she wasn't aware how gruesome the death was. The footage showed how a pregnant Alexandra and Jay moved to an isolated snowy countryside and got married. However, since Jay was not Alexandra's true soulmate, her nose began to bleed profusely after their wedding. As she bled out, Jay panicked, tried calling 911, and cut her belly open to save their daughter, Rachel.

The Sorry Man's mystery in Something Very Bad is Going to Happen is also tied to Jay. Jules', Nicky's brother apparently encountered a gruesome scene when he was a young boy. Turns out, he was hiding in the wooden cabin where Jay cut open Alexandra's belly to save Rachel. Jay repeatedly yelled, 'I am Sorry' after he couldn't save his dying wife. Alexandra saw Jules hiding and told him to take care of the baby. This is the reason why Jules is extremely protective of Rachel. He even confronts Jay.
