Phantom Lawyer recently premiered its final episode and ended on a bittersweet note. Yi-rang finally solved his father's case and proved his innocence. Furthermore, apart from sending the culprits to prison, he also confessed his feelings to Na-hyeon at the end.

Over the 16 episodes of the fantasy legal K-drama, numerous popular actors appeared in guest-starring roles, with Choi Won-young being the last as he played the character of Shin Gi-jung, Yi-rang's father. Apart from Phantom Lawyer, the South Korean actor has also appeared in numerous acclaimed K-dramas such as Twinkling Watermelon, Undercover Miss Hong, and more.

More on this in our story.

Choi Won-young has been appearing in various flashback scenes throughout Phantom Lawyer. However, his character took centre stage in the final four episodes when his ghost appeared before Yi-rang. With his entry in the K-drama, the story becomes more emotional and personal for Yi-rang, as he wanted to do everything to prove that his father was not a corrupt lawyer.

In the last two episodes, his character also helped Yi-rang fight gangsters and acquire the evidence that would prove his and Mr. Yoon's innocence. Choi played an impactful character that made the finale of Phantom Lawyer more intense and emotional. However, this is not the first time the 50-year-old actor has made his viewers feel emotional.

In the 2023 K-drama, Twinkling Watermelon, Choi played the adult Ha Yi-chan, Eun-gyeol's deaf father. While he appeared in fewer episodes in the K-drama as well, his role still made a crucial impact on the story and also the hearts of the viewers.

Another guest role that proved Choi's acting prowess did not require long screen time is Netflix's Undercover Miss Hong, where he portrayed Myeong-hwi, Chairman Kang's son, who wanted to expose his corruption at the company but was killed because of it. His other popular roles also include Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth, for which he also won a Best Supporting Actor Award.

Apart from playing good characters, Choi has also gained popularity for portraying one of the most popular K-drama villains in Doctor Prisoner. He portrayed a narcissistic Chaebol character named Jae-joon, whose screen presence left viewers in awe. From the beginning of the K-drama, he played a crucial role in moving the story of Yi-je forward and bringing more trouble for him.

Currently, Choi appears in the Netflix K-drama, We Are All Trying Here, where he plays Dong-hyun, CEO of Choi Film. His character is more focused on profits and success, and he has no problem letting go of people who bring him no wins.

Other acclaimed K-dramas where the Phantom Lawyer appeared include Hello Monster, Queen Seondeok, The Golden Spoon, and Mad Dog, among numerous others.
