If you've watched Wonder Man on Disney+ already, then you know that the door is still left wide open, regardless of the MCU series being a limited one.
The finale flips the script on what an MCU ending usually looks like, and the cast and creators believe the ending pushes Simon Williams into a much bigger future for the MCU, whether that is another season or a jump into other projects.
The finale shows a hero who picks loyalty over comfort, and this is the kind of decision that could ripple across the MCU in unexpected ways.
How and why does the Wonder Man finale change Simon Williams forever in the MCU?
The ending of Wonder Man ends on a very human note, which is why the finale sticks the landing. Simon Williams finally gets what he has been chasing all season. The movie role works out extremely well. The fame is right there. The industry is finally noticing him.

However, instead of feeling complete, he still feels empty. According to showrunner Andrew Guest, the feeling Simon feels is the whole point. While speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Guest explained that Simon had achieved everything he wanted but still felt “a little empty” because he could not share what he's achieved with Trevor.
That gap drives Simon to do the one thing he knows he should not do. He exposes his powers only to help Trevor escape prison, and yes, it is a reckless choice, but it is also an honest one.
According to Guest, Simon realized that he would not be satisfied if he just sat back and did nothing about the situation, and so he decides to help Trevor. This turns Simon into a public risk, and his powers are no longer a secret.
This is where Wonder Man shifts lanes from other MCU projects. Instead of setting up a clean hero arc, it is a mucky one. Simon is powerful, but now he's also visible. This is dangerous in the MCU. It opens the door for conflict with authorities, future heroes, and even villains who now know exactly who he is.
What the cast says about Wonder Man continuing in the MCU
The cast is not pretending this ending is just set up randomly. They know exactly what it hints toward. In the same EW interview, Guest made it clear that the team is not thinking small.

When asked about a Season 2 or potential crossovers with other MCU heroes, he said,
“I don't think we could choose one or the other...”
Ben Kingsley was even more direct. He said,
“Of course we [want a second season]. It would be dishonest to say, ‘Ooooh, I don't know. Let's wait.’ Of course we do. I'll say it to the world.”
This fits Trevor Slattery perfectly, does it not? He has always come back around in the MCU, ever since his first cameo in Iron Man 3, and he pops up wherever he can.
Yahya Abdul-Mateen II also talked about having a clear idea of what he wants next for Simon.
“Absolutely. I want to see what getting a taste of what you've always wanted, what it does to a guy like Simon.”
He pointed out that even after success, Simon is still in his trailer going over his script. That detail, he said, proves Simon is going to be all right.
Even if Wonder Man was labeled a limited series, with a strong response and a high Rotten Tomatoes score, the character does not really need a Season 2 to keep going. The MCU is built for characters to travel.
Wonder Man ends by choosing character over something extravagant, and this choice shapes the character's future in the MCU. Simon Williams is now not a polished hero, but someone willing to burn his own safety just for the sake of loyalty when it comes to Trevor Slattery.
The cast has been clear that this ending is not really a goodbye. Whether through another season or appearances elsewhere, Simon and Trevor are far from done.
