Chris Carter is keeping his distance from Ryan Coogler's The X-Files reboot for a somewhat unexpected reason. The film director wants to be surprised by Ryan Coogler's vision just like the fans.

In a recent interview with ScreenRant, speaking about the reboot, Carter admired Coogler, calling him a "once-in-a-lifetime filmmaker," adding that he wants to see what he has created for his mother.

Chris Carter's sci-fi series was released in 1993 and ran for nine seasons. After almost fourteen years, the series returned for another season, followed by Season 11 in 2018. The series starred David Duchovny as Fox Mulder and Gillian Anderson as Dana Scully.

Years later, Ryan Coogler is bringing back the sixteen-time Primetime Emmy-winning series with a new reboot, featuring Danielle Deadwyler and Himesh Patel as the new FBI duo.

As per the reports, while Carter is the creator of the original X-Files, he has kept himself away from Ryan Coogler's reboot of the franchise, something he is actually glad about. When asked about it during an interview with ScreenRant, Chris Carter admired the filmmaker and said that he wants to see Coogler's take on the new reboot. He further added that Coogler had said that The X-Files is his mother's favorite show, which has made him even more curious to see what the filmmaker has created for her.

Last year in October, Variety reported a statement from Coogler in which he said that he wanted to "do right by her and the fans," while also revealing that his mother had read some of what he had written for the reboot.

Clearly, Carter is keeping himself away from any details that might affect his perspective on the reboot. At the same time, his comments show that he trusts Ryan Coogler. Instead of trying to make sure the reboot follows the vision of the original series, Carter is letting Coogler handle it in his own way, trusting his vision and talent.

However, it's important to note that Hulu has not officially confirmed that the reboot will move forward, leaving its future uncertain for now until its release is officially confirmed by the production.
