Marvel Entertainment just released their animated X-Men '97 Season 2 trailer on their official YouTube channel. The new season will officially premiere globally on June 13 this year at the Tribeca Film Festival in New York City.
The show is about the mutant superhero team navigating a dangerous new era without their founder, Xavier. They protect a world that fears and hates them under Cyclop's leadership. The first season ended with the 'Tolerance Is Extinction-Part 3' episode, where Asteroid M was vaporized and left the world to believe that the X-Men were dead.
Now, the new season will bring the team back as the trailer begins with a scene showing them divided between the past and the future. Apocalypse planned to strike the X-Men when they were weakest. The remaining team members are hoping to rewrite history by pulling them back to the 1900s and stop this reality-bending threat.

What happened in the past and how does it connect to Season 2?
X-Men '97 Season 2 is setting up a massive reality-twisting conflict against one of Marvel's most formidable villains, Apocalypse. His real name is En Sabah Nur and he was born 5000 years ago in ancient Egypt and is widely known as the world's first mutant.
The villain believes that only the strongest and most adaptable mutants deserve to survive while the weaker ones should be eradicated. In Season 1, some X-Men were thrown back to ancient Egypt after the defeat of Bastion and met the future of Apocalypse.
In the present, he appears in the ruins of Genosha, picking up Gambit's burned playing card while speaking about pain and death. His plan was to use advanced technology and bring Gambit back.
The last season also showed that Magneto ripped the adamantium metal straight out of Logan's body and left him badly injured. He survived but became weak and vulnerable.
Apocalypse in X-Men '97 Season 2

He says this in front of the team, preparing for battle. Now, the twist comes when Wolverine makes a grand entry with his classic look:
"We are back baby."
X-Men '97 Season 2 reveals Apocalypse as an imposing figure in his classic blue and grey armor. His dramatic voiceover regarding his plans to destroy the team runs throughout the trailer.
