The upcoming events in Yellowjackets now offer the fans their first full understanding of what is to come. The fourth and final season of the series will start filming in mid-February 2026 in Vancouver, British Columbia, after a brief delay from the original filming schedule in January.

The news about the project has come out after Sophie Nélisse, who plays Shauna Shipman, conducted an interview with ScreenRant about her character on January 27. Nélisse said that,

""I know, we're starting in two weeks. We're very excited. I've already rented my place to Vancouver and so we're about to kick off this final season."

Yellowjackets Season 4 confirmed as the final season

The network announced the renewal of the fourth season of Yellowjackets on May 20, 2025, but the network did not provide information on whether this would be the end of the series.

The information became available after three months had passed. The Yellowjackets team announced on October 10, 2025, that Season 4 would also be the final season of the series.

The team wanted to end the project at this point because they felt that this was the right time to get the right ending of the story. The showrunners possess complete authority over their narrative because they decide when to conclude their television series.

The final season has been planned to bring closure to character arcs that have been developing since Season 1. The show will use its fourth season to connect all major storylines that have been developing since the beginning because most of these storylines have been told through different time periods.

The series makes use of the production infrastructure that has been established to improve visual consistency between different time periods, which has remained a key element of the series since its first airing.

Series timeline

Yellowjackets began its run in 2021, and it introduced its two timelines that revolve around a set of teenage girls who are stranded in the woods in the 1990s, and then as adults.

The first season of the series explored survival, trauma, and the early formation of relationships among the characters. The second season explored more psychological elements that shifted the balance of power among the characters who survived. The third season finished several storylines but decided to keep key elements of the story under wraps, thus setting the stage for an upcoming final season.

The fourth season of the series will wrap up the current storylines while using the psychological approach that the series has adopted.

So far, we do not have any information about the official release date.

Cast expectations

The casting for Yellowjackets Season 4 has not been released yet. The main cast may play an important part in analyzing the long-term effects of the common past of the characters and providing them with emotional closure.

Why Season 4 matters

The first day of filming for Yellowjackets Season 4 represents a major development in the show. The final season of the show brings together all its previous storytelling themes, which cover survival experiences and traumatic events, and how people remember them.

The final chapter will follow its established storytelling style through its return to Vancouver and its structured shooting timetable. Filming will finish by the end of July 2026.
