Yellowjackets Season 4 might be hiding Gen's cause of death in plain sight

The Yellowjackets Season 4 final trailer has teased what's going to happen in the final season. The trailer mostly gives us glimpses at what happened immediately after the survivors were rescued. We see everyone struggle to adjust to the outside world after spending so long in the wilderness.

Shauna, particularly, struggles a lot and even attacks her mother after getting triggered by something. But towards the end of the Yellowjackets Season 4 trailer, we see a tree fall on someone, hinting at a death that might be Gen's.

Yellowjackets Season 4 might finally reveal how Gen died

So far, there are two characters whose death we have not seen take place, and they are also not seen in the present timeline. While we were told Gen died in Season 3, her exact cause of death is yet to be revealed. Nothing about Akilah's possible death has been revealed either.

In the Yellowjackets Season 4 final trailer, we see two moments where Akilah seems to be close to dying. One is where she appears to be hunted by someone, and another is when she seems to be inside the wrecked plane and in pain.

In a scene towards the end of the Yellowjackets Season 4 final trailer, we see a tree fall on someone. Shauna, Taissa, and Travis walk away in time, but the tree does fall on someone. That person might just be Gen.

In Yellowjackets Season 3, when Kodiak chased the survivors through the wilderness, he fired a crossbow that hit Gen's Melissa. That forced Gen and Mari to perform a field procedure to push the bolt all the way through Melissa's body to prevent her from bleeding out.

While Melissa survived the attack, the intense violence of the incident led to a rapid decline of the group. Ultimately, all viewers are told is that Gen died in the woods before the survivors were rescued. For most of Season 3, Gen's cause of death wasn't revealed.

In the present timeline, everyone believed both Melissa and Gen died in the wilderness. However, it was then revealed that Melissa actually survived, faked her post-rescue suicide, and went into hiding under a new identity.

When adult Shauna eventually tracked Melissa down, the truth about their last few days in the wilderness was revealed. However, that did not change the fact that we still don't know how Gen died.

If the moment from the Season 4 trailer turns out to be the moment Gen died, it would mean she died because the tree fell on her. We also cannot rule out that even if Gen did die by the tree falling on her, it might have been a planned murder made to look like an accident.

However, all this is just a theory at this point, and Gen's cause of death will hopefully be confirmed in Yellowjackets Season 4.
