Seth Meyers reportedly roasted Donald Trump over his viral 'waving at no one' moment at the White House helipad. Meyers pointed to a recorded video that showed the president appearing to wave at someone before boarding Marine One. But when the camera zoomed out, it became clear that no one was actually there. Meyers mocked the president and remarked,

"You guys see him? Just me?"

Meyers said that the president tried to explain rising gas prices by blaming a drop in refining capacity that supposedly happened long before. He compared this excuse to someone leaving a bathroom and insisting that another person had clogged the toilet 14 months earlier. Meyers joked that the president's wave was like pointing toward a random person who clogged the toilet.

In Late Night with Seth Meyers, the host made fun of the president and drew a comparison between his 'waving at no one' moment and the claim that other people had clogged the toilet 14 months earlier. Meyers roasted the president and said,

"That's like walking out of a bathroom and saying, hey, everyone, I think some guy clogged the toilet 14 months ago. Yeah, 14 months ago, it wasn't me."

The host added,

"It was some other guy. And they're like, what guy? You're like, that guy over there, I'll wave to him. You guys saw him, right? You guys see him? Just me?"

The Kansas City Star reported that the president was traveling to Wichita to support Senator Roger Marshall in his re-election campaign during the midterm elections. People who had watched the video online said that the gesture looked unusual. Some thought that the president might have waved at a fence or at empty space.

The president was actually waving at supporting staff and technical crews who managed his departure. NTD News released footage where it was clearly revealed that when the camera moved or widened, it showed that the area was not empty.

In usual presidential and campaign trips, salutes and waves are most often directed toward security teams standing at a distance, Secret Service agents placed along the perimeter, or groups of reporters and media cameras kept far from the plane for safety reasons. Since wide-angle cameras or tightly cropped clips from smartphones often fail to capture these people, the wave could look on video as if it were aimed at nothing or at an empty space.
