The Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 finale titled 'The Night of the Hunter' was released on Apple TV on June 5. The final entry of the sophomore season of the platform's dark-comedy crime drama series was filled with exciting twists and turns, setting up an even more dangerous chapter for Coop.

The finale picked up in the aftermath of the previous episode's tragedy, after Owen Ashe slipped on his house's floor and died, while chasing after Nick, Barney and Coop. After Barney checked Ashe's pulse, it was confirmed that he was dead, meaning Coop had landed himself in yet another murder.

Were the trio able to dispose of Ashe's body? What new troubles await Jon Hamm's character in Season 3?

Here is the ending explained of the Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 finale.

Was Ashe's body discovered in the Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 finale?

The Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 finale saw Nick, Barney and Coop trying to dispose of Ashe's body, when Sam arrived on the scene to break up with him. While she wanted nothing to do with his death, especially after last season's scandal, Coop explained everything to her and revealed that they would throw his body into the lake and there would be no way to trace it back to them. However, Sam advised the trio to dump Ashe's body in the pool of the property purchased by Suzanne and Maggie. The trio agreed that since the pool would soon be filled with cement, this would be a better option.

However, things took a turn in the Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 finale when Ashe woke up while the trio was driving him to the property. As Ashe tried to attack Barney, Nick panicked and the car fell into the lake. The trio survived but the car dropped to the bottom of the lake, confirming Ashe's death. Convinced that Ashe's body would be untraceable at the bottom of the lake, the trio returned to their lives. However, a fisherman seemingly discovered Ashe's body the following day, hinting at trouble for Nick, Barney and Coop.

Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 finale ending explained: Elena got into trouble with Felix

With Ashe blackmailing Coop in the Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2 finale, Elena was out of money and she was spiraling. Time was running out for Elena as she needed the money to bail her brother, who had gone missing. As a last resort, she took a loan from Felix, who was becoming impatient for his money. As Elena attempted to recover her money from Nick, he was consumed by guilt and refused to let anyone come near the cash. With the police interrogating everyone about Ashe's whereabouts, Nick was paranoid and even had a falling out with Coop and Barney, firing the latter.

In the concluding moments of the finale, Elena opened Nick's house for Felix and asked him to rob the place and get the money back. However, unlike Coop, Felix came with a crew and took more than needed, even punching Elena in the face to make it look like a burglary. While Elena was out of her debt, her new dynamics with Felix spell trouble in Season 3.

The finale took a tragic turn for Barney, who was not only fired by Nick but also kicked out of the house by Grace after he refused to tell her the truth. Left with no choice, Barney moved in with Coop. On the other hand, Coop decided to return to his life with his kids and met with Mel in a bowling alley. While Mel forced Coop to come clean about his life, he was hesitant. This incident led Mel to take up her agent's offer and write a book about the events of Season 1.

In the final moments of Your Friends and Neighbors Season 2, DeMille approached Coop and delivered the flash drive with the video of him stealing from Ashe's house. He also revealed that he had wired the money into his account, suggesting that while Ashe is dead, Coop's work with Excelsior was not done and the other members might try to use him for their dirty dealings in the next season. Additionally, since DeMille didn't know anything about Coop's kidnapping, somebody else has their eyes on Coop, which will surely play out in the upcoming season.
