One of the most awaited Marvel shows is finally making a return as the MCU has just confirmed that we are getting a second season of Marvel Zombies. The animated horror series made waves when it dropped on Disney+ in 2025, showing what a zombie apocalypse would actually do to the MCU and all those beloved characters we care about. It soon became a massive hit with strong viewership and a strong fanbase, and fans have been asking for more of it ever since it had its finale.
Brad Winderbaum, who is running Marvel's streaming, TV, and animation division, just confirmed the renewal on The Escape Pod podcast. There have not been any official announcements yet, but Winderbaum has already given the green light, and he's setting expectations high.
Talking about the season, he stated,
"I don't think it's a spoiler, but I saw the first animatic of the first episode of Marvel Zombies season 2 this morning. It was crazy, I can't say anything about it, but it delivers not just on like zombies, but also on like an MCU thing that has never really happened before that we're very excited to do."
The fact that Marvel's betting big on a second season pretty much says everything. Between the shocking moments in season 1 and whatever wild stuff Winderbaum's hinting at, Marvel Zombies is becoming one of Marvel's strongest TV projects. For now, all we can do is wait for whatever horror adventures await fans in the next run.
More details about Marvel Zombies
Marvel Zombies dropped on Disney+ back in September 2025, and it immediately became a massive deal. It became so big that it actually beat out Grey's Anatomy in streaming charts across more than 30 countries during its first week, which is a big record for an animated show. The show is set in this alternate timeline where a zombie virus has absolutely devastated the world.
The story follows a group of survivors that includes Kamala Khan, Kate Bishop, Riri Williams, and others as they're running for their lives across this completely wrecked landscape. They've got a transmitter device they need to get to space to broadcast a signal to the Nova Corps, which sounds straightforward until you realize they're surrounded by superpowered zombies the entire time.
As for the cast, we got Iman Vellani back as Kamala, Elizabeth Olsen as a zombie Scarlet Witch, Simu Liu as Shang-Chi, among others. We were also introduced to Blade Knight, a new character who's a mashup of Blade and Moon Knight, voiced by Todd Williams.
As of now, it's not clear what we'll get for Season 2, but from what Winderbaum has teased us, it's going to be grand.
