What happened on Beyond the Gates

A big week, with some very cool scenes, we had Jacob (Jibre Hordges) uncover the identity of the courier, who is a big part of the Plasma-Ring; we had had our suspicions on and off with Grayson (Jordi Vilasuso), and in Friday’s episode, we discovered that the suspicions were well-founded. Jacob and Grayson looked at each other after the handoff of the plasma, and that look said everything.

Next week, the tension will be palpable. Anita (Tamara Tunie) had a really rough round of chemo this week and held it together spectacularly, and the support of Ashley (Jen Jacob), Vernon (Clifton Davis), and then Tracy (Maria Howell) is what’s going to keep her head up despite feeling like her body is betraying her.

All the other scenes this week paled in comparison to this, even though it was a tough decision, Vanessa and Leslie’s battle of words and shade at Orphey Gene’s on Thursday 5th of march stole the cake. In true diner fashion, these two leviathans of Fairmont Crest went head-to-head and delivered line after line and comeback after comeback at the table, while Leslie’s daughter, Eva (Ambyr Michelle), just watched on, horrified with each passing escalation.

What started out as an animosity-filled scene in which Leslie, Eva, and Vanessa were trying to convince Derek (Ben Gavin) to be their PR person and make the announcement to the world about the free clinics opening soon turned into an epic playground session of name-calling.

If I had to score it and announce a winner, the decision would be clear in favor of Leslie. She had the nastier lines and delivered with that cold, hard, and fierce look that even Vanessa, love her as we do, could not match. Proving that once again, there is none better than Leslie Thomas at this game.
