Beyond the Gates Daily Y.A.P.P for Monday, February 16th
Welcome to the Beyond the Gates Daily Y.A.P.P. (Your After-Program Ponderings) for a quick — and by that, I mean you’re already halfway done — recap of the most amazing or what-the-heck-did-we-just-watch moments on today’s episode. Let’s get to it:
What Happened on Beyond the Gates

Today was moment in time not easily forgotten. Watching today’s episode, knowing what we know made it all the more heavy. This was the last time we got to see Jason Graham’s Doug McBride. Today was the last episode that Vanessa got to talk to her husband, and the today was the day that Doug reached out, in tears, recognizing all the damage he had done to their marriage and wanting to acknowledge it. Vanessa looked very emotional, this was exactly the kind of thing she had wanted from Doug, and she said that they could talk about it when she got back, and that’s when Joey decided to act and make Doug spiral, as part of his plan.

Joey asked Vanessa what sort of wine she wanted and Doug lost his mind that he was there pouring his heart out and she was with bargain basement Tony Soprano. It was heartbreaking listening to Doug say he reached out and got the one person guaranteed to make it worse and break what little heart he had left. Doug then told Vanessa that they deserved each other.

Doug drank more, gambled more, bet his watch and lost it, and Joey and Vanessa got closer and went to bed together. Doug, however, had won big, but in the end it didn’t matter, as Marcel was there acting on Joey's behalf. All night, Joey and Marcel had been in communication, and now Marcel was going to carry out the final instruction. With hazy alcohol induced vision, Doug realized that he was alone with Marcel and that the dealer had vanished. Doug had several big bands of money, and Marcel was taking them off him. Doug exclaims that they are his, and Marcel responds chillingly with, “You’re not going to need money where you’re going.” RIP Doug McBride, and what an end.
