Beyond the Gates: Beyond the Gates Recap for April 6, 2026: Anniversary memories visited the Hawthornes

Here's what went down Monday, April 6, 2026 on Beyond the Gates when the Hawthornes remembered their past, their present, and expressed some hope for their future.

What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Jacob called Izaiah to his motel room, wanting him to let their mother know he was all right. Izaiah felt bad for asking Naomi to use her burner phone, but Jacob easily absolved his brother. While Jacob predicted that his undercover assignment would end soon, Izaiah knew that Jacob was missing Naomi since it was their wedding anniversary.

At Orphey Gene's, Naomi was in the middle of thinking back to her motel rendezvous with Jacob when Ashley arrived with an anniversary present. Mrs. Hawthorne credited Ashley with the fact that she even had an anniversary...

In a flashback, Naomi complained that she was done with “Hottie Cop,” who seemed interested when they ran into each other at the courthouse but never asked her out. She only half-seriously threatened to date J.T., the bailiff, instead, but Ashley suggested that Naomi be proactive and ask Jacob out herself...

At the motel, Izaiah snarked that Darlene had cold-shouldered Eva because she hadn't been a debutante like Naomi. Jacob recalled that Darlene hadn't liked Naomi at first, either, and that her being a Dupree had been an issue...

Jacob and Naomi sat at the diner, marveling that she'd had to ask him on a date. The conversation took a turn when Jacob noted that Naomi was a Dupree, which equated to Black American royalty. Naomi waved off her family's reputation, saying that she didn't want anything fancy out of life. She could have joined her father's prestigious law firm, she maintained, or used her grandmother's connections to launch her own singing career, but she hadn't wanted to be a nepo baby. Jacob relented, laughing that he was following in his own father's footsteps. Naomi couldn't believe Jacob had literally been a Boy Scout...

Naomi told Ashley about her own first memories of Darlene...

Jacob and Elon watched as Naomi tried to make an impression on Darlene, who remembered that the young Naomi and Chelsea had nearly run her down on an ice skating rink. The police dispatcher believed in Southern manners and was none too pleased to hear that Anita was from Chicago. Naomi said she had been to Darlene's home state of South Carolina, but Darlene scoffed that Naomi had visited an affluent area and not where “real” people lived. However, when Naomi pointed out that neither Anita nor Dani had gone to college, and Anita had pulled herself up from the projects, Darlene showed a glimmer of respect...

Spend my life with you

Dani offered Naomi non-alcoholic champagne even though Naomi didn't carry the BRCA gene variant as she did. Naomi giggled when her mom brought up the boy she had crushed on before Jacob; he had been in a band, and Naomi was still eyeing a singing career. Dani admitted that she had needed time to warm up to Jacob...

Naomi tried to calm Dani, who was perturbed because Bill hadn't liked a dress of hers. Dani was shocked when Naomi wanted a ticket to WinterFest for Jacob because of what it implied to the family and Fairmont Crest as a whole. Naomi thrilled Dani when she said that she and Jacob were moving in together, and that they were in love...

Jacob and Naomi ate pizza sitting on the floor of their new apartment, surrounded by boxes. Ashley arrived to loan them Jan's air mattress, but made herself scarce when Jacob wasted no time inflating it. Naomi agreed that she and Jacob should test it out...

Dani surprised Naomi by revealing for the first time that Jacob had actually come to her to ask for Naomi's hand in marriage. In flashback, Jacob was extremely nervous, but Dani didn't hesitate to approve Jacob's wedding plans. In the present, Dani reflected on how she had helped Jacob plan his proposal...

Naomi, having had a bad day, was already in bed with a book when Jacob came in saying Ashley wanted to meet them out. The more Jacob pushed, the more suspicious Naomi got. Even though Naomi nearly sent him out of their bedroom, Jacob impulsively spread rose petals on the bed and told her that she was infuriating, stubborn, and beautiful. He got on one knee and whipped out a ring he'd had made from his grandmother's necklace. Naomi joyfully accepted his proposal, but giggled that the moment had taken place while she was wearing her bonnet...

After Naomi and Jacob exchanged vows, Elon came down on a tipsy Izaiah for dressing casually and not standing up for Jacob at the altar. Izaiah seethed that what he couldn't stand was Elon, and when Elon physically kept him from leaving, Izaiah accidentally broke some glasses trying to pull away. Darlene castigated Izaiah, while Bill also had stern words for the outcast. As Izaiah left, Elon fumed that he didn't belong there...

Izaiah stared at a wedding photo of his brother and sister-in-law and ethereally told them he had no problem suiting up for them now.

Bill went to see Naomi, all but saying he knew Jacob's “training” was a ruse. Naomi still couldn't believe Bill had put Jacob in the position of arresting Dani after she had let bullets fly at Bill's wedding; she thought about how she and Jacob had had to work through their differences of opinion on the subject, and how Jacob had been adamant about resolving things. Then, Bill said that Naomi's wedding had been his pinnacle as a father, making Naomi laugh by adding he was too nervous at his own first ceremony and there were too many bullets at his second.

Naomi entered her bedroom, where she once again found rose petals strewn on the bed. She saw a bouquet and a card from Jacob, who had written about how much they'd overcome and that they would be together again soon. In the meantime, Jacob wanted Naomi to fantasize about him being with her, which she did – until she opened her eyes and realized she was still alone. She stared off into space pensively as Jacob did the same from his spot in the alley.
