Here's what went down Thursday, February 19, 2026 on Beyond the Gates when Naomi dusted off a friendship, wind blew in from two different directions for Lynette, and Tomás got two new questions for every answer.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Anita declined the more savory foods of Mardi Gras at the country club because her chemo treatments were blunting her appetite. Vernon also selected a milder entrée in solidarity with his wife, deciding that they would celebrate the next Fat Tuesday in New Orleans to mark Anita beating cancer. Anita was wary, but Vernon reminded her of the importance of mind over matter...until Leslie stopped by their table.
Despite being told the Duprees wanted to enjoy their meal alone, Leslie wanted Anita to that moment call Tracy and Sharon to arrange her lunch with the Articulettes, which she had won at the WinterFest auction. Anita crossly informed Leslie that there were proper prize-claiming procedures to go through, but Leslie didn't want to wait, frowning that Anita wasn't going to disrespect her the way she had disrespected her mother, Barbara.
When Anita reminded Leslie that Sharon and Tracy were on tour and could be well into the fall, an undeterred Leslie sat down with the Duprees, announcing that at least she could dine with one of the Articulettes. Ms. Thomas went on about how she'd been a fan since childhood, with Anita rolling her eyes when Leslie confessed that she'd lost her virginity to an Articulettes record. Leslie wanted to treat Anita to a spicy dish, but Vernon countered by asking for the check and canceling his order. As Anita got up to follow Vernon out, she suddenly got dizzy and nearly knocked dishware off the table trying to steady herself, horrifying Leslie.
Leslie was certain that Anita was probably lightheaded from hunger, yet Anita insisted she was fine. After Anita and Vernon offered to refund Leslie the $10,000 she had spent on the Articulettes prize, Leslie backed down and consented to following the proper protocol. In the lobby, Vernon faulted himself for not stepping in with Leslie sooner; Anita waved that off and said Leslie was lucky, because had she been feeling 100%, she would have “snatched Leslie out of that chair” the way it was done in the Chicago projects she came from...which would have given Anastasia “a tasty bit of Dupree gossip.”
At the police station, Elon took another call from Bill, who had been demanding updates every hour in the case of Hayley's attacker. Bill then video chatted with his wife, who said she was doing fine at the hotel room by herself, particularly with the round-the-clock security Bill had hired. A guard knocked on the door and ushered Naomi into the room; Hayley was surprised that her former best friend had come to check on her.
Naomi asserted that she wasn't a monster – in spite of their falling out, Naomi didn't think Hayley deserved to be assaulted. When Hayley chalked it up to karmic retribution for hurting Naomi's family, Naomi told Hayley to stop thinking like that. It was only her guilt talking, and she bore no guilt in being mugged besides. Hayley took Naomi's hands and wondered if they could be close again, with Bill walking in and witnessing the gesture.
Bill was happy to see his daughter easing his wife's concerns. Hayley shrugged that they might just have to accept that her attacker would never be caught, and Naomi was surprised that there had been no forward movement in the case. Bill wondered if Jacob had mentioned anything about it but was troubled when Naomi said she had barely seen her husband at all. After Naomi left, even Hayley was of the opinion that something was off between her and Jacob.
Elon griped to Jacob about Bill thinking his wife's case was the only one the department was investigating – though he felt that he would be as vigilant as Bill had it been Jacob's mother who had been assaulted. Jacob gave his dad the update that he was on the verge of infiltrating the blood plasma ring, but Elon was dissatisfied by what he viewed as slow progress. When Jacob wanted some acknowledgement, Elon huffed that he didn't give out cookies for basic competence and recalled how, as a child, Jacob had been upset because he hadn't gotten a Cub Scout merit badge as fast as he wanted. Jacob yelled that he “just wanted some damn respect,” which got the attention of the other officers.
Jacob swore that he hadn't pushed to be part of the blood plasma ring investigation simply as a means of moving up, realizing that every day that passed meant contaminated plasma could get into the supplies of hospitals. As Jacob went on that he understood the dangers involved, Elon scornfully replied that he already knew “the nature of the job when you were stinking up your diaper.” The police chief wanted Jacob to understand that aligning oneself with criminals only to betray them posed a special kind of danger, and that the specialized training course Jacob had taken wasn't going to be enough to protect him in a real life situation.
“I don't know what I would do if something happened to you,” the hardened cop suddenly blurted out, shocking his son. Later, at home with the lights off, Jacob called Smitty and reported that he had performed the syndicate's “loyalty test” – now either Jacob would get his first courier assignment...or a bullet between the eyes. Both Jacob and Naomi jumped when she suddenly entered, wondering why her husband was sitting in the dark.
Jacob quietly said he wanted to be sure no one knew he was there – then let Naomi know that he was going dark, and he didn't know for how long. In addition, he was getting another place until the case was closed to prevent putting Naomi in harm's way. Naomi knew what Jacob's job entailed but hated the idea of being separated from him any more than she already had been. She was stunned when Jacob handed her a burner phone and directed her to not call him on his unless it was an absolute emergency.
As Jacob readied to leave, Naomi fretted that she and Jacob had had so little time together, so he suggested that they make the most of the current moment. The marrieds started undressing each other, but suddenly Jacob stopped, saying, “This feels different” – a sentiment Naomi had expressed earlier in the conversation.
Tomás met with Lynette at the food court, where they discussed Hayley's mugging. Lynette reiterated the story of how she had scared off Hayley's “attacker” by loudly drawing attention to herself; she presciently observed, “Criminals are cowards.” Tomás explained that he was getting ready to file a motion to dismiss in Lynette's embezzlement case – but whether or not it actually got dismissed depended on the judge and the ruling. Lynette balked when Tomás suggested that she plead to a lesser charge, which would see her receiving only probation; Ms. Wise said the move wasn't the same as being declared innocent and threatened to bring Bill in if Tomás couldn't get her case dropped completely.
Stammering that he understood his client's demands, Tomás still put forth that, going forward, Lynette was to come to him with any issues – after all, Hayley wouldn't have been hurt had she not brought Lynette the documents that were supposed to be sent by messenger. Lynette got a call from Randy, who ordered her to meet with him; in her haste, she told Tomás that it had been Hayley's idea to deliver the papers personally, which confused him. Later, Tomás studied files of Lynette's case on his tablet.
At Uptown, a near panicked Randy told the arriving Lynette that Bill wanted Hayley's “mugger” behind bars – and now Joey was “on my ass” to deliver him. Not doing so, Randy revealed, would invite Joey's hazardous ire. When Lynette spat “That's your problem,” Randy fumed that he wasn't one of Lynette's marks. Lynette sneered that Randy should stop acting like one and whining like a little bitch. Her confident glare faded, however, when Randy vowed to take both Lynette andHayley down with him if it became necessary to.
