Here's what went down Monday, February 2, 2026 on Beyond the Gates when Shanice told both Leslie and Derek to kick rocks, Vanessa had a staffing problem, and Ashley got the job offer from hell.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Leslie ran into Shanice at the food court, with Leslie calling Shanice defensive when she stood up for herself. “Trouble in paradise?” Leslie smirked as she flashed back to planting her panties in Ted's hotel room. Shanice found Leslie foolish for expecting Ted to come back to her once she blew up his life and brushed it off when Leslie remarked that Ted couldn't be faithful. When Shanice smiled that Ted was now with a woman he could respect, Leslie menaced, “Are you trying to say I'm not worthy of respect, heifer?”
Derek arrived as Leslie advanced on Shanice; Leslie howled that while Shanice seemed like she was only into “dark coffee,” she was also into milk. Laughing that Shanice had a back-up in Derek once Ted left her, Leslie excused herself, leaving Derek to tell Shanice about his being discharged from the fire station owing to his spinal damage. Shanice understood that Derek had been left with minimal mobility, but she refused to let him feel sorry for himself when he engaged in self-pity; he realized he was still licensed to drive trucks and that he was still a licensed EMT, which meant job prospects. Derek thanked Shanice for the pep talk, and Shanice playfully ordered him to hand over his résumé so she could study it and improve on it.
At Orphey Gene's, Ashley met with Jan, who wasted no time in giving her what Ashley called “a maternal guilt trip” about not having been in touch. Ashley corrected Jan, who thought she was spending all her time with Grayson, by pointing out that she had been busy with extra shifts at Garland Memorial. Besides, Ashley said, she wasn't the only one involved in a workplace romance; the Morgan girls giggled over Ted and Shanice pairing off.
After Ashley described all the roses Ted had sent Shanice, Jan found herself wishing her new beau, Owen, was more into showing his appreciation. Though Jan didn't want to come across as needy, Ashley advised her mom not to fall into the “say nothing/get nothing” trap by not communicating her needs. Then, Ashley brought up how Derek was now out of work through no fault of his own; she wanted to help him, but she didn't want Derek to take it as a sign that she wished for them to get back together. Jan was surprised to hear that Derek had tried to sabotage Ashley's date with Grayson.
Leslie, on the phone with Vanessa, entered the diner. Ms. Thomas announced that she would only speak to Joey regarding anything to do with the clinic, but when Vanessa mentioned that it would have to be staffed, Leslie lied that she was already exploring contenders. Ashley and Jan were interrupted by Leslie, who immediately offered Ashley a paid position at the clinic, though most other folks on staff would be volunteer. Ashley declined, feeling she had a better career track at the hospital. Once Ashley left, Jan suggested that Leslie look into bringing Derek on.
At Uptown, Izaiah berated himself for handling things wrong with Eva. Kat scoffed that she had “clocked” Eva from the very beginning and accused her half-sister of playing the victim despite Eva having gone after Tomás. Izaiah countered that Tomás had had free will and defended Eva, saying that all Eva really wanted was a family, which included Kat. Ms. Richardson spat that Eva could have stopped her mother's scheme to ruin her parents' marriage any time she wanted, but her dander really went up when Izaiah put down Ted, declaring that Kat was “blaming [Eva] for the trifling actions of a man who should have known better.”
Kat sniffed that Izaiah was twisting her words, and therefore he and Eva were perfect for each other. She simply desired to hold other women accountable, while Eva seemed to activate a protective gene in men to make them feel sorry for her. Izaiah mocked Kat's contention that Eva wanted him for his money, since he was obviously making a fortune as an academic advisor. Kat held that it was a mistake to care about Eva – and Izaiah could ask all the other people who had gotten burned because they hadn't listened to her.
A visibly upset Eva ran into Tomás at the country club, though she lifted out of her misery long enough to congratulate Tomás on his promotion to junior partner at Bill's law firm. Tomás wanted to know what was bothering Eva, so she explained how she had caught Kat and Izaiah in a cozy conversation. When Eva confirmed that, to her, it did seem like Kat had been flirting with Izaiah, Tomás said he trusted his girlfriend and wondered if Eva trusted Izaiah. “He's a good time,” Eva replied, clearly not believing herself. Tomás could see that Eva wanted more from Izaiah and apologized if his own actions toward her had made her feel she wasn't deserving.
Later, Tomás texted Kat to meet him in the banquet room, where he relayed what Eva had said about Kat's meeting with Izaiah. Kat balked at Eva hinting she was trying to steal her man and firmly said that she had only been giving Izaiah professional advice regarding the job offer he had gotten to model for Dani's agency. Tomás believed Kat, which made Kat feel good, since it seemed no one ever took her warnings about Eva seriously. The couple exchanged “I love yous,” and Tomás commented that it had been a while since they talked about moving in together. Kat did not seem opposed to the idea.
Eva found Izaiah waiting for her at her front door; Hawthorne admitted he had been an idiot for bringing up their no-strings arrangement in relation to Kat. Izaiah relayed how Kat had gone on about Eva being no good – but he affirmed to Ms. Thomas that he was decidedly “Team Eva.” Eva opined that the tussle over the uncommitted aspect of their relationship had made her realize that she did want more after all, and Izaiah agreed he had experienced a similar perspective; he didn't want them flirting with others. Izaiah professed that he was crazy about Eva and hoped she would give them a shot.
When Eva sighed that she always felt like anything good in her life just ended up getting ripped away, Izaiah suggested that their becoming exclusive could allay that fear and inspire trust in both of them. Eva had to admit that Izaiah was everything she had wanted in man...“we're a thing?” she asked. “We are,” Izaiah smiled. “I have a boyfriend!” Eva realized with glee, and she and Izaiah began taking each other's clothes off.
Chelsea made loud pronouncements to Madison at the hospital, begging her girlfriend not to leave her for Copenhagen. Madison wanted Chelsea to dial down “the melodrama” – besides, it wasn't like she would be embarking in the next 24 hours. When Chelsea said that there were better ways for Madison to break up with her than moving to another continent, Madison revealed that she had applied for the fellowship program before she and Chelsea had even met – and that she had only received a call inviting her to it the previous day.
It became clear to Chelsea that Madison wasn't simply leaving the U.S. to get away from her, and Madison assured Chelsea that they were still a couple. Yet now, the issue of a long-distance relationship stood between them. In response, Madison suggested that Chelsea accompany her to Denmark. Remembering that Chelsea had spoken about being more spontaneous, Madison felt the move fit in with that perfectly – plus Chelsea could get new and different inspiration for her designs overseas, to say nothing of flooding her social media with travel content.
Chelsea was intrigued by the idea – especially by giving her followers a Chelsea Takes Copenhagen arc – but she hesitated, stating that she had never been away from her family very long. Madison promised that Chelsea could return for visits at any time during their year away, but when Chelsea continued to hedge, Madison decided that Chelsea was only all right with being a free spirit as long as it was within the confines of Fairmont Crest. On that, Chelsea accepted Madison's proposal to live in “their own little bubble,” predicting it would be “the adventure of [our] lives.”
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.
