Here's what went down Friday, February 27, 2026 on Beyond the Gates when Naomi got a confidante, Vanessa urged Nicole to make Carlton re-available, and Chelsea got more closet space.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Smitty met with his old friend, Dr. Monica McCormick, an oncologist from Houston he had reached out to in regard to Anita. Monica wanted to be sure he wasn't drowning under the pressure of his grandmother-in-law dealing with cancer. Naomi, who stopped short of sending the undercover Jacob a text, came upon Smitty and Monica, learning that they had met while Smitty and Martin were still dating. Smitty had to take a call from Martin, who was on the campaign trail, so Monica asked Naomi to join her and wondered how she herself was holding up.
From her years as a cancer specialist, Monica knew that those stricken with the disease never suffered alone – and she understood that daughters and granddaughters often wondered if they would be next to be diagnosed. Naomi politely but stiffly replied that the thought had crossed her mind, and Monica told her that anything she was feeling about the prospect was valid. After Naomi explained how she had always branded herself as the logical one, Monica sensed that Naomi wasn't doing much confiding in loved ones and gave Naomi her contact information if she felt like getting in touch.
Eva tried to referee at Orphey Gene's, where Kat swore she'd find a way to make Leslie pay for hurting Laura and her parents, while Leslie crowed that everyone had moved on – including “Teddy Weddy” and “Naughty Nikki.” Kat seethed as Leslie laughed about Nicole “sexing” two doctors; Leslie added that, if Nicole had let her freak flag fly sooner, Ted wouldn't have had to come running to her. Eva felt that was going too far, but Kat accused Leslie of simply deflecting from talk of her crimes.
Leslie scowled that the cops had “come up emptier than your so-called style,” but Kat clapped back that the only reason for the lack of evidence was because “hood rat helper” Eva had gotten rid of it. Before storming out, Kat said she couldn't wait for the day “karma drags you by your wig du jour” and served Leslie with everything she deserved. Kat ran into Izaiah at the door and sniffed that he better not come running to her after things blew up with Eva, because she had warned him.
Izaiah wondered what he'd walked in on, but Leslie moved on to his relationship with Eva and remarked that all three of them had so much in common. Leslie knew Izaiah had had a rough family life though she wasn't aware of particulars; she knew he had worked hard to become a respectable young man and she wanted to be sure he treated her daughter right. Leslie was satisfied when Izaiah noted how special her daughter was to him – though on her way out, she signaled to Eva by pointing at her finger, adding to the pressure she'd already put on Eva about snagging an engagement ring.
As she had done before, Eva apologized for her mother, but Izaiah had taken the encounter in stride. Eva was horrified that Leslie had used their relationship as a “coupon” to extract a favor from Izaiah's father; Izaiah harrumphed that Leslie might get more out of Elon than he had, which Eva found sad. Izaiah felt that, between him getting nothing from his dad and Eva getting too much from her mother, they rather met in the middle. When Izaiah declared that he wanted to know everything about Eva, and that he didn't want for there to be secrets between them after how unforthcoming his ex had been, Eva flashed back to Leslie admitting to running Laura off the road and poisoning her.
Ted found Nicole at the hospital, but she became snippy the moment he mentioned that he'd seen Anita's interview on television; she deemed that he was no longer part of the Dupree inner circle. Nicole relented after Ted reminded her that he had come to Anita's rescue following her first post-chemo collapse and had held to his word about keeping the matter private. The former Mrs. Richardson detailed that Anita had gone public because she had wanted to get ahead of the rumors that had been circulating about her. It seemed it was getting harder for Anita to bounce back after each successive treatment, Nicole relayed, and she apologized for snapping at Ted.
The exes realized it had been a year since the attack that had put Laura in the hospital. Ted was certain that Kat had been triggered by the milestone; Nicole sighed in agreement but saw Kat's reasoning that Leslie had never paid for her criminal misdeeds. Ted and Nicole were both grateful that they had arrived at a place where they could talk, and Nicole elaborated that their bond over their children was one even Leslie couldn't break.
Later, Leslie peeked into Ted's office, attributing his negative reaction to the sight of her to the fact she wasn't the “nosy nurse” or “Naughty Nikki.” Ted didn't want to hear Leslie's complaints about Kat, but he listened when Leslie said that Eva needed her father. Leslie remarked that things were getting serious between Eva and Izaiah, and Ted had to admit that he knew next to nothing about his daughter's beau. Seeing Leslie's point, he took her suggestion to get to know Izaiah better and said he would make plans to do so.
Izaiah inadvertently snapped Eva out of her recollection of Leslie's admission, but Ted's call prevented her from having to explain why she'd drifted off. When Ted asked for Izaiah's number, Eva instead put the men on the phone together, and Izaiah was surprised that Ted wanted to get together with him the next day...though he respectfully agreed to the audience.
Vanessa grabbed a quick coffee with Nicole, hoping that Nicole had “ditched [her] guilt” about exploring her sex life and dating two guys. Nicole said that Vanessa's earlier words of encouragement had helped her and that she was finding her newfound freedom “intoxicating.” Yet, Nicole shared her confusion over Carlton turning her down for a date and wondered if he was also seeing someone else. Vanessa winked that while Nicole liked to be shared, she wasn't fond of sharing.
Nicole conceded that she had been disappointed by Carlton's refusal, though when Vanessa wanted to know if Nicole would be willing to give Kial up for him, the psychiatrist said no. She wanted them both and she was enjoying her fun. That said, Nicole granted that Carlton would have a right to move on since she couldn't give him the commitment he was hoping for. Vanessa advised Nicole to convince Carlton that she was a priority by making a special effort on their next date. Nicole found the counsel wise – but was astonished when Vanessa left to show Kat a property, as it was the first she was hearing of Kat looking for her own place.
At the hospital, Nicole left a message for Kat, asking for more information about her living arrangements. She turned around to see Leslie, who snarked that Nicole acted like Wonder Woman when she was really slinking around town like Catwoman. “I thought I was the mistress of disguises,” Leslie taunted. Nicole replied that Leslie was the queen of costume drama, addressing Leslie's more demure attire and reviling her for trying to act like an upstanding citizen, which no one would ever believe she was.
Kat met with Chelsea at Uptown, still on a tear about Leslie and Eva, but Chelsea wasn't interested. The purse designer felt that Kat continuing to hold on to her anger was “not cute,” so Kat backed down. Chelsea really wanted to talk about wedding plans, though the venue she and Madison were keen on needed to be booked over a year in advance. Kat didn't share her cousin's enthusiasm and announced that she was moving out.
Chelsea thought it was too early for that, since nothing had changed, but Kat insisted that Chelsea's behavior had, since she had blindsided Kat with the relocation to Copenhagen and hadn't considered what that would do to their company. When Chelsea decided that Kat was punishing her by not wanting to live together anymore, Kat asked why it was okay for Chelsea to “level up” while she was supposed to remain stationary. Chelsea felt bad upon learning that Kat and Tomás had chosen not to cohabitate themselves, then wondered if Kat wanted to leave because it was too hard for her to be around her and Madison given the seriousness of their relationship. “You have some nerve!” Kat exclaimed.
Kat was appalled that Chelsea seemed to think any girl without a ring on her finger must be depressed and barked “Maybe I just wanted some damn space!” Chelsea was shocked when Vanessa arrived to show Kat the condo she was interested in – and Kat clucked that she'd have invited Chelsea to tag along except she was “too busy crapping on my life.” Chelsea was infuriated and called after the departing Kat that she hoped she'd be moving out sooner than later.
