On Beyond the Gates, Chelsea summoned Madison to a room at the Bowman Hotel, which she had turned into a Valentine's Day wonderland. “I love it when you're not subtle,” Madison beamed after Chelsea wanted to celebrate the holiday early ahead of Madison's preparations to start her fellowship in Copenhagen. Chelsea admitted she had wanted to serve Danish food but settled on Madison's more familiar faves – and she added that they would find a way to make even their imminent long-distance relationship romantic.

Urged to look up a phrase Chelsea had uttered in Danish, Madison discovered that the translation was “Will you marry me?” Madison was thrown, feeling that she and Chelsea had agreed it was too early in their relationship to get married. Chelsea wasn't in dispute, but she felt she had found the perfect partner; though she realized Madison liked to plan things, she asked her girlfriend to try something wild. Madison produced the fortune she'd been saving from their first date that read “Go for it” and decided to accept Chelsea's ring. They were now officially engaged.

At Uptown, Dani approached Izaiah, who had arranged a meeting with her. She went on about the perks of Izaiah modeling for her agency, but he finally got to say that he liked his academic advisor job at Banneker University – plus, he couldn't abandon his seniors in the middle of the semester. Dani wondered if Eva had in any way influenced his decision, since both Eva and her mother had been known to work against the Duprees. Izaiah held Eva blameless and acknowledged how hard it had been to rise to the level he was at now. Dani moved from disappointed to impressed, hailing Izaiah for “walking the walk” – she easily assented to speaking to any of Izaiah's students who might have an interest in fashion.

Pamela went to see Andre, aware that he had been in touch with a fashion designer named Tatum Stewart. Andre said that he and Tatum were old friends but that he had simply run into her while he was in New York – and talk had turned to Dani being the face of Tatum's new collection. Both Andre and Pamela knew that the proud Dani wouldn't take the gig if she knew it had been arranged for her, so they made a pact to convince Dani without revealing Andre's involvement – at least not until after the papers were signed. Andre was resolute in his feeling that Dani needed something for herself in the wake of testing positive for the BRCA gene mutation, plus Anita's cancer.

Dani came home, c'est la vie about Izaiah having turned down the Dupree-Curtis offer. Pamela knowingly announced that, when one door closed, another opened – and she told her about Tatum's interest. Tatum's focus was on “women of a certain vintage,” Pamela explained, and her bold fashion statements were a perfect match for Dani's personality. Dani wanted time to think about it; after Pamela left, she wondered why Andre was pressing as hard as he was that she take the job, especially given the timing. Andre said it was to make up for Dani rejecting the Forrester Creations offer due to his discomfort – and, Andre noted, Dani could negotiate for working closer to home so she could be near the family. Dani was appreciative of Andre's support, especially after having given up modeling to make a life with Bill.

Leslie took Eva out to dinner at the country club, suggesting that Eva call Ted and ask him to join them. Eva said that Ted already had plans; when Leslie bitched about Shanice, Eva declared that she'd only mentioned Ted was dating so that Leslie would give up on him. The subject changed to Izaiah, and Leslie could tell from Eva's tone that the two had progressed beyond friends with benefits. Eva admitted that she had been nervous to level up to exclusivity, since Kat had done such a thorough job of trying to sabotage her relationship. This prompted Leslie to say, “Everything flows when you believe in yourself.”

At the Bowman, Ted stammered to Shanice that he had no idea how the panties got stuffed into his couch. Ted blurted out that they had to belong to Leslie, while Shanice thought they were Nicole's. Shanice had come to that conclusion about the “butt floss” because of the way Ted had stared at Nicole earlier. Ted was willing to bet that Leslie had bribed her way into his room and planted the undergarments to produce the exact reaction Shanice was having – just the way the disguised Leslie had gotten past Shanice at the hospital just before Laura was poisoned. Shanice winced, still feeling bad about the incident.

Ted wanted to continue the evening, but Shanice opted to leave – she believed Ted, but their vibe had already been killed when they'd run into Nicole at Uptown. She was adamant that she didn't want to be Ted's consolation prize and left Ted alone in his room.

Just as Leslie was wistfully telling Leslie about the landscaping she was going to have done around her house, which included a meditation garden filled with sculptures of “perfect male specimens,” Ted arrived and plopped Leslie's panties on the table. “Did I leave that in your hotel room?” Leslie smirked. Eva facepalmed while Ted raged about how Leslie had ruined their fledgling friendship. “I. Am. Not. Interested in you!” Ted emphasized. “Stay the hell out of my room!” Leslie sniffed that Ted used to be a lot more fun. Ted retorted that Leslie was nothing but a pain in his ass.

Eva stomped into Uptown, fuming to Izaiah about her mother pulling another one of her stunts. Izaiah laughed upon hearing about Leslie's reverse panty raid, figuring Leslie had instead put itching powder or bedbugs in Ted's mattress. Eva rolled her eyes, thinking Leslie would do something like that next. She frowned that she came from crazy and hoped that it didn't scare Izaiah off. Izaiah reassured her but was surprised when Eva proclaimed that she could never testify against Leslie if it came to it, since she had at least done her best to raise her. Eva nodded when Izaiah mentioned that she had had to handle Leslie all on her own – but she was overjoyed when Izaiah said she now had him. He was “all in” on their relationship.

Ashley ran into Derek at the food court; they were both waiting for to-go orders and each guessed what the other had coming. Derek spoke of the pep talk Shanice had given him and invited his ex to eat with him so he could tell her about the career opportunities he was looking into. Ashley begged off, uncomfortable given how Derek had been interfering in her life in regard to Grayson.

She didn't feel like she could trust Derek anymore but said he could improve things between them if he could stop acting weird around Grayson. Derek countered that something seemed off to him about Grayson – he was slick, as well as shady, and he seemed to be hiding something. Ashley scoffed that Derek was projecting considering his own deception about his recovery. Derek promised he wasn't jealous; Ashley decided they needed to put some distance between them.

Later, Shanice stopped by Derek's table, and the friends commiserated over the crappy night they were having. Derek asked Shanice for her impressions of Grayson, which had Shanice shaking her head. When Derek grumbled that Shanice also thought he was jealous, Shanice advised him to focus on his own love life instead of Ashley's.

Ashley and Grayson were taking a magazine compatibility test at her apartment, but Ashley's concentration was lacking. She asked Grayson to tell her something true about himself. The lab tech recalled how open and honest he'd been as a child; it hurt for him to remember that version of himself. He'd been so innocent that he'd actually thought being a pharmacist involved being on a farm; afterwards, he'd spent time at science camps.

Grayson asked Ashley if she still wanted to be with Derek. Ashley answered no. Grayson took the moment to admit that he wasn't always a good guy – which was fine by Ashley, since she was sick of always being such a good girl. They moved to Ashley's bed, but before getting too far, Grayson received persistent texts and suddenly announced that he had to leave – though he couldn't get into why. Grayson kissed Ashley and thanked her “for everything”; after he left, Ashley remembered Derek's words and looked concerned.

Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.
