Here's what went down Monday, June 1, 2026, on Beyond the Gates when yet another person questioned Joey's involvement in the red market, Nicole was ready to fink on herself, and Chelsea saw her stepfather in a new light.

What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Chelsea ran into Andre at Orphey Gene's and decided to sit down with her “favorite stepfather.” She decided that Andre had indeed achieved “fave” status, especially after he arranged to take Dani to his shoot in South Korea so they could stop by to see ChelseaKat's event during fashion week in Tokyo. Andre asked about Chelsea and Madison's wedding plans; Chelsea shrugged that she was disorganized, but now Naomi was available to help with Jacob at home.

Andre couldn't hide the guilty feelings he still had about having competed with Derek for Ashley. The shooting at the warehouse was further emphasized when Izaiah passed by on his way to a commendation the police station was holding for Jacob. Andre and Chelsea were both keenly aware of the fragility of life between Derek's death and Anita's bout with cancer; Andre added that he wouldn't know what to do if he lost Dani. He wasn't worried about losing Dani to Bill, and neither was Chelsea, since she could see Andre's devotion to her – but Andre had been fearful for Dani since learning she had inherited the BRCA gene mutation from Anita, which left Dani more susceptible to developing cancer herself.

Chelsea listened as Andre described how he had closed himself off after the accident that had claimed both of his parents; he'd simply moved through life with a hollowness inside and a determination not to get close to anyone. Andre told Chelsea that he became more afraid for Dani the more he fell in love with her, and wondered how Dani must be feeling about carrying BRCA. Chelsea reasoned that Dani would be vocal about anything she was experiencing and marveled at the evolution of Andre's marriage to her mother.

Nicole met with Vanessa at the country club, where Vanessa was combing through a photo album she had found in Doug's home office. Vanessa concurred that Derek's death had motivated her to finally tackle gathering Doug's belongings and theorized that Donnell and Deanna might be better able to accept Joey if she could show she was moving on from their father. Nicole encouraged Vanessa to feel every aspect of her grief, whether it seemed appropriate to her or not. Vanessa agreed and then asked Nicole if she was still beating herself up over fantasizing about Ted.

Irritated that Vanessa was taking pleasure in her discomfort, Nicole redefined her fantasies as intrusive thoughts that had made it very awkward to be around her ex. She mentioned the fact that Ted had recommended her for Garland's chief of staff and hoped Kial had been wrong about Ted doing it to get closer to her, as Shanice didn't deserve such game playing. Vanessa pushed when Nicole resisted the idea of telling Ted about her thoughts, but Nicole finally opted to do it for the sake of her being self-conscious.

Randy went to the casino and reported to Joey that he had spoken to The Impaler's right-hand man regarding the meeting the ringleader wanted with Joey; Randy also conveyed that this person was the only one to have direct contact with The Impaler. Joey was adamant about The Impaler not doing business in his territory and would only have the confab on his terms – he didn't want to end up dead, as Derek had.

Vanessa saw Randy on his way out, then revisited Jacob's concern that Joey was The Impaler. Joey decided that Jacob simply needed to be redirected, perhaps via a different crime to solve. Distracted, Vanessa told Joey about Doug's photo album, which depicted Doug and Vanessa as teenagers. When Vanessa smiled that she used to slip Doug in behind the gates, Joey remarked that even then, she liked to sneak around. Vanessa had trouble fathoming how her relationship with Doug could have deteriorated so much over the years, and worried that it could happen with her and Joey. After Joey observed that they were adults and that Vanessa and Doug had met as kids, Vanessa felt better. Still, when Vanessa arrived at Joey's place, she thought back to her final conversation with an irate Doug and allowed herself to sob.

Izaiah visited Joey and hedged around what he wanted to ask – whether or not Joey had anything to do with the plasma ring that had almost gotten his brother killed. Joey resolutely assured Izaiah that he would never do anything to hurt anyone in Izaiah's family based on how much Izaiah meant to him.

Ted approached Shanice at the nurses' station, seeing that she was in a bad way even after talking to Nicole. When Ted slipped that he had sent Nicole, Shanice balked at Ted first going to Monica, then Nicole behind her back instead of just talking to her directly. Ted sheepishly confessed that he had been hesitant to approach Shanice for fear of saying the wrong thing and increasing the tension between them. Shanice replied that Ted should have trusted her after she'd stated she wasn't going to let her fear get in the way of their relationship. Ted couldn't deny that she was right.

After Ted lent her his ear, Shanice opened up about Derek having been so young and his death having been so unexpected. Ted empathized, relating the passing of his brother, Stan, and his sister-in-law, Ira (Andre's parents). Ted knew memories of Derek were painful for Shanice, but he had promised they would become comforting in time. Shanice thanked him for allowing her to be vulnerable.

Afterwards, Nicole asked Shanice how she was doing, causing Shanice to snark, “Are you asking for yourself, or your ex?” Catching herself, Shanice apologized, and Nicole agreed that Ted should have seen to Shanice's emotional state on his own instead of sending Nicole to inquire. Nicole remembered that Ted had trouble communicating in crisis situations and advised Shanice to advocate for him to be more forthcoming.

Ted was surprised to see Nicole in his office, acknowledging how strained things had been between them of late. Nicole flashed back to her erotic visions of Ted and began to explain that her attitude toward him had shifted as their first anniversary as divorcées had arrived. But before Nicole could elaborate about her “intrusive thoughts,” Shanice unintentionally interrupted, and Nicole told Ted that what she'd come to say hadn't been that urgent after all. After Nicole excused herself, Shanice said she had overreacted to Ted sending Nicole to talk to her, especially since Leslie was a far worse ex than Nicole was. Ted reconfirmed that Shanice was the only woman for him.

Jacob awoke to chocolate being dribbled on his lips, and he was all too ready to begin the day by making love to Naomi. However, he stopped abruptly when he suddenly heard gunshots in his head. Despite Naomi's concern, Jacob wouldn't talk about what was wrong and returned to his romantic efforts. After they were finished, Naomi reminded Jacob that they needed to get ready for his commendation at the department, but Jacob huffed that he didn't deserve the fuss – not when Derek had been the real hero. In addition to that, Jacob insisted, the bust hadn't been nearly as successful as everyone kept saying it was because The Impaler was still in the wind. Naomi's asserting that Jacob had captured Ren, Lia, and other associates didn't placate him.

When Jacob announced that there was nothing he wouldn't do to bring The Impaler down, Naomi feared he was talking about another undercover assignment and confessed how terrified she'd been the entire time Jacob had been away on the last one, spending sleepless nights plus days where she had to lie about his whereabouts. Naomi slipped and implied she'd had other worries besides those, but when Jacob realized he had been insensitive to Naomi's experience and asked what she was talking about, Naomi again clammed up about having inherited the BRCA gene from Dani and convinced Jacob that they had to leave for his ceremony soon.

Next up, Izaiah lays down the law, Darlene goes head-to-head with Leslie, and Hayley works to keep Bill out of the Duprees' orbit.

Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.
