Here's what went down Monday, June 8, 2026 on Beyond the Gates when Jacob had tunnel vision, Vanessa played ostrich, and ticket-stealing Articulettes attendee Leslie tried again.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Randy ushered a hooded figure into the back room of the Lakeview Casino, after which Joey ordered everyone else out. Once alone, the figure was revealed to be Heather Armstrong, Joey's estranged younger sister. Joey thought that The Impaler shared Heather's flair for the dramatic by sending her in his place. Was Heather his emissary? His wife? Heather pivoted and told Joey that she had been living in London, building up her own empire. While Heather asked questions about his personal life, which Joey answered by asserting that he had no spouse or children, he also sensed that she and The Impaler were already aware of these facts. Heather confirmed that a background check had, in fact, been done.
After a brief discussion about their childhood in New York, Joey admitted he'd missed his sister but wanted to know why she was suddenly in town – and what connection she actually had to The Impaler. Heather looked Joey in the eye and intoned, “I am The Impaler.”
Joey laughed in disbelief until Heather acknowledged that she had invented the persona of The Impaler as a man, which fed into fantasies and kept people off guard. But when Heather went on to say that she had learned the tactic from their father, Joey became irate, and Heather conceded that their dad was still a sore spot for him; she granted that she hadn't taken the brunt of the senior Armstrong's physical abuse the way Joey had.
When Joey demanded to know the point of Heather's visit, she assured him that the red market was no longer operating in the DMV, which would prevent further incursions onto his turf. What Heather truly wanted was to go into partnership with Joey: she felt they'd be the perfect match since he liked to keep his hands clean, and she didn't mind getting her hands dirty. Joey decided he preferred the status quo, but asked the departing Heather not to disappear again. She cryptically replied that she wouldn't.
Best for me

Vanessa paced around Joey's condo, freaking out about his meeting with The Impaler. She called Dani to talk her down, though Dani had to get past the guards at the door first. After admiring Joey's décor, Dani asked, based on Vanessa's worry about Joey and her desire to join Joey in business, if Vanessa even knew all that Joey was into. Dani astutely noticed that Joey's home bore no personal effects or photos outside of the framed picture of him and Vanessa; it didn't seem that Joey had friends, either. Vanessa became uncomfortable when Dani noted that Joey always had his guard up and wondered how she was going to integrate Deanna and Donnell into that life.
Defensive, Vanessa frowned that she wanted to keep her romantic and parenting lives separate. But when Dani recalled that Vanessa's attempt at that duality with Doug hadn't ended well, Vanessa requested that Dani leave.
Word around town

Andre and Ted got together in Ted's office, remarking that there wouldn't be much time for personal interaction at Martin's upcoming fundraiser. Seeing his uncle's good mood, Andre presumed it had something to do with Shanice, and Ted concurred that he and Shanice had settled things and gotten onto a better path. Ted was hopeful that he and Shanice might be able to build something solid together. Andre commented on his marriage to Dani and how stepdaughters Naomi and Chelsea had both leaned on him in the wake of Derek's death, happy to be a source of support for them.
Dani arrived to have lunch with Andre, but Ted wanted a word with Dani first. When Ted hoped that Nicole would be all right with him bringing Shanice to the fundraiser owing to her frosty attitude toward him of late, Dani could barely keep her smirk to herself, undoubtedly remembering that Nicole had been fantasizing about him, yet Dani only said that Nicole would have no trouble with Shanice's presence.
Izaiah was ready to leave Eva's apartment to go see Jacob. Eva was pleased that Izaiah would be escorting her to her brother's fundraiser and winked that she wasn't sure Izaiah had the wardrobe for such an upscale occasion. After assuaging Eva's fashion fears, Izaiah went to Uptown and expressed his worry about Jacob in the aftermath of Jacob's clear agony during his commendation. Jacob didn't think any honor mattered as long as The Impaler was still loose, and in any case, Derek would never be coming back.
Jacob smiled to remember his friendship with Derek and how the two of them, plus Naomi and Ashley, respectively, had been a united foursome. Now, the “tribe” was broken, Jacob sighed, his heartbreak obvious. Izaiah understood Jacob's determination to get justice for Derek by nabbing the Impaler, but he felt it was important that Jacob not neglect what he still had, most notably his marriage to Naomi. Jacob agreed.
Izaiah told Jacob how their mother had pulled in her claws toward Eva during the commendation, leading to their recognition that there were those who would only ever define Eva through the actions of Leslie. Jacob recalled that Darlene had come around to Naomi, but Izaiah sniffed that she'd only done so because Naomi was a Dupree. Izaiah championed Eva's good qualities, and Jacob was heartened when Izaiah referred to his meeting Eva as the brightest thing that had ever happened in his life. Jacob just hoped that Izaiah would keep the door open for their mom to come to like Eva on her own.
I need some cash

Enjoying herself in the country club banquet room, Leslie overheard the event planner, Megan, finalizing details for Martin's fundraiser and invoking the names of Genoa City dignitaries Jack Abbott, Diane Jenkins Abbott, and their son Kyle Abbott, plus business tycoons Victor Newman and Devon Winters, all of whom would be in attendance. Leslie became animated, the wheels turning.
Eva was busy working on clinic business from home, but was interrupted by Leslie, who knew that Eva, as Martin's half-sister, had been invited to the bash and called dibs on Eva's plus-one. Leslie balked when Eva insisted that she was taking Izaiah, daring Leslie to name even one of Martin's political stances. Leslie owned that, in addition to dying to be among so many movers and shakers, she wanted to do damage control in the wake of how the blood plasma ring had sullied the clinic's reputation. Eva didn't appreciate her mother trying to use her and was certain that she'd end up embarrassed by Leslie going after Kat or one of the other Duprees in public, causing Leslie to saunter out, faking a smile.
Later, Izaiah brought Eva lunch, and after Eva relayed how Leslie had tried to insinuate herself into the fundraiser, the couple simultaneously concluded that Leslie would find a way to party crash. Meanwhile, Leslie made a beeline for event planner Megan, played her card of having funded the country club's sports complex, and intimated that she would make a large donation to Martin's campaign if Megan could find her a way into the festivities.
Next up, excitement grows among the Duprees and the Richardsons, the Hawthornes find themselves coming apart at the seams, and a Newman literally descends upon Fairmont Crest.
