On Beyond the Gates, Dani was shocked to find Andre home from his photography gig early; she nearly sprayed him in the eyes with a beauty product, thinking he was an intruder. He had checked into Anita's progress and knew that Dani needed to unwind, so he treated her to a lomilomi massage, telling her the story of how he'd been running from the tenth anniversary of his death, only to come home for a friend's birthday and be rewarded with finding the love of his life in her. Andre then dressed himself and Dani up in PJs and watched cartoons with her while eating kiddie cereal. Dani thanked him for taking her back to a simpler time and offered to help him go through the childhood photos he had locked away because they'd been too painful.

Shanice brought Ted what she called “Flavor Bomb Budget Bars,” highly nutritional snacks she had lived on when she was putting herself through nursing school. Ted wanted to hear more about Shanice's past, particularly her relationships. Shanice said that most of the men she'd been involved with had cheated on her, in particular a fellow who had seemed to be “the one,” only to step out when she'd been busy finishing up her medical education. Ted promised he wouldn't cheat; Shanice had a hard time understanding how Ted could have been unfaithful to the nearly perfect Nicole. After Ted said that Shanice's way of getting straight to the point was something he loved about her, she quietly asked, “You love me?”

When did you stop loving me, when did I stop loving you

Vanessa was still upset about Deanna shutting her out. Joey felt bad that he had inadvertently come between Vanessa and her daughter, but Vanessa reasoned that Deanna would have railed against any man who came after Doug. Though Vanessa initially wanted to employ Joey's special services to cut through to Deanna, she decided that her best tack would be to be as honest about her marriage to Doug and subsequent relationship with Joey as she could be without giving away Joey's unlawful activities.

Donnell had taken Deanna shopping, which had cheered her up; she flatly refused to discuss their mother. However, when Vanessa joined the twins at Orphey Gene's, Deanna realized that Donnell had manipulated her into a visit. Vanessa shut down Deanna's nastiness about Joey and confessed that, despite her and Doug having been very much in love in their early years, their marriage had devolved into friendship by the time Deanna and Donnell had gone off to college. Deanna regretted leaving home in that case, but Vanessa assured her that her marriage to Doug had been over before that.

Vanessa stated that, in Joey, she had finally found someone who made her feel alive. Deanna had an unusually cheery response to the news – then demanded to know if Vanessa had gotten with Joey before or after her father had died.

Tomás was on his laptop in the mall atrium, looking for jobs, when Chelsea breezed by. Chelsea made small talk about planning a double date movie night, but Tomás, who avoided a call from the firm Stickle and Garrett, all but sent Chelsea away. Later, Chelsea went to Orphey Gene's for a pickup, seeing a furious Hayley across the diner; Hayley was on her phone, castigating Lynette for running up $15,000 worth of charges at the hotel Bill had set her up in. Hayley lied to the approaching Chelsea that she was simply disagreeing with her credit card company; Chelsea wanted to learn if Hayley was continuing to heal from her mugging. Chelsea promised to be there if Hayley needed her – Hayley said she appreciated it, but after Chelsea moved on, Hayley remarked to herself, “These heifers got me messed up.”

Bill went to see Chelsea about booking the band she wanted for her wedding to Madison, but instead, he found Kat. After exchanging pleasantries about Chelsea, Kat lit into Bill for believing Tomás had made a move on Lynette, becoming even more suspicious when she confirmed that Bill only had Hayley's word for it. Bill became irate over Kat's disrespect toward his wife, but Kat held her ground that Hayley's “math ain't mathin'” in terms of Lynette and Tomás. Chelsea arrived and noticed the chilliness between her cousin and the departing Bill.

Hearing Tomás had been accused of sexual harassment, Chelsea saw Bill's point, citing how Tomás had slept with Kat's sister. “Half-sister,” Kat spat, scornful that Chelsea had brought the incident up. Kat relayed how Tomás had only become flirtatious with Lynette in an attempt to get information out of her.

Tomás was wrapping up a positive call with his potential new employer when Hayley happened upon him and mocked him for looking for another job. Navarro wondered if the previously friendly Hayley had been his enemy all along; Hayley countered that Tomás had used her and others in the firm to get his junior partner position. Tomás snarked that Hayley had a way of covering her own ass, prompting Hayley to brag that she always came out on top.

Bill spoke to the credit card company and explained that the $15,000 hotel charge wasn't fraud. However off his discussion with Kat, he thought back to several times it had seemed questionable how close Hayley and Lynette were, which led him to pay a visit to Joey. The casino owner listened to how Lynette's background checks had come up unusually clean and wondered if embezzlement had been the woman's only alleged crime. Bill said he would “call an exterminator” if Joey could confirm that “worker bee” Lynette had been playing him.

Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.
