Here's what went down Monday, May 11, 2026, on Beyond the Gates when Tyrell had legal issues, Naomi got some intel with her luvin', and prep for Eva's birthday fell into place.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

TIDE WATCH: 1
On Beyond the Gates, Anita went in for her final “red devil” chemo session, telling Vernon it had felt like four years instead of four months. Vernon had known his wife would prevail, but she realized her battle had come at a price to him. She wanted him to know that it was because of him that she had found the strength to battle on.
As they waited outside, Nicole sheepishly admitted to Dani that she had envisioned Ted while in bed with Carlton. Dani didn't think it was a big deal – she had seen Bill in Andre's place in the beginning of their relationship, and Nicole had experienced that moment on what would have been her anniversary with Ted. Nicole found comfort in Dani's contention that such things were just part of letting go.
Anita found Nicole, Dani, and Ashley waiting for her when she exited the treatment room. Ashley indicated the bell that the hospital had put in for chemo patients to ring in victory when they completed their regimens. La Dupree rang the bell vigorously, then went home to share sparkling cider with her husband, her daughters, and Andre, who was thrilled to be included in the family occasion. Though Anita reminded everyone that she still had a few more hurdles to overcome, as in actually having the now shrunken tumor removed, she planned to “live large” once she was finally given the all clear.
Soul food

Leslie found Ted at the country club, yet Ted didn't give her a chance to talk – he was furious that Leslie had taunted Shanice when Shanice had seen them together in his office. Ted told Leslie to “do better,” but Leslie still wanted her say and insisted that the two of them do something special for Eva's birthday. Leslie wasn't thrilled that Ted was booked up with the cotillion on the actual day, though she did talk Ted into celebrating that very evening.
In the locker room, Izaiah seemed nervous about shooting hoops with Ted; Andre caught on and did some gentle ribbing at Izaiah's expense. Ted arrived and was perfectly cordial to Izaiah, even if he let his daughter's boyfriend know that they needed to talk after their game. Later, Izaiah and Ted had breakfast, and Ted invited him to spend Eva's birthday with him and Leslie. When Izaiah said he and Eva already had plans, Ted relayed the idea to have a get-together that evening instead. Ted took Izaiah's initial reluctance to mean he was apprehensive about “Dana,” but then Izaiah confidently said he could handle Leslie and offered to cook for everyone at an intimate home dinner. Ted found the gesture thoughtful.
I am not my hair

Samantha visited June at Orphey Gene's, confiding in her biomom about how nervous she was becoming with the approach of the cotillion, which was in two days. In addition to all the protocol and formality, Samantha said, she was also unnerved by the image of Francesca, who hated her, being on the arm of Nathan, the boy she used to like. June recommended that Samantha not pay attention to any of the nasty things Nathan and “Chessy” were saying behind her back.
Seeing Eva take a seat, Samantha thanked Eva for volunteering to do her and Jessica's hair; Eva was glad for the chance to maintain her styling skills, since she rarely got a chance to practice them anymore. When Samantha carefully asked if Eva would be willing to make June look pretty as well, Eva beckoned June to the table and offered her services. June was hesitant at first, but when she signed on, Eva chanted that Team Samantha was going to slay!
Leslie joined Eva, explaining how they'd have to mark Eva's birthday that night because Ted wouldn't not go to the cotillion. Eva was unruffled, saying that she was going to be styling hair that day anyway; Leslie was annoyed to hear that June would be getting a 'do as well and snarked that June was still living under a bridge. June corrected that she now had her own place and got Leslie to admit that she hadn't received an invitation to the gala; June smiled that “anybody who [was] anybody [was] going to be there” and strode off, satisfied.
Eva rolled her eyes when Leslie wondered where she fit in with Eva giving so much attention to her father's side of her family – it had always been her and Eva against the world before then. Leslie still felt cheated that she hadn't gotten a chance to know her mother because of Anita and Dante Green; Eva chimed in that Leslie had certainly inherited enough money from the situation. Leslie softened, saying that she just wanted to be able to make up for the years Eva hadn't been able to share her birthday with both her parents. Eva agreed to observe her day a little early as Leslie had suggested.
Smitty was collecting intel on Lia when Martin came in with a laundry basket furnished with Tide. Martin hoped to have a family breakfast with their teens; Smitty nearly skipped out but realized how important spending time all together was. Tyrell entered, sulking because Jessica would be attending UCLA while he would be staying local at Banneker; he was also upset because he had been grounded for kissing his own girlfriend. He was legal now – when would his dads stop treating him like a kid?
Martin and Smitty tried to explain that they were as new to parenting an adult son as Tyrell was to being an adult; they hoped they could all figure it out as they went. Samantha joined them, still tweaked that she had been grounded for weeks for kissing Nathan, while Tyrell was still allowed to go out for cotillion preparations. But Samantha soon mellowed, deciding she'd take Tyrell's room as an extra closet once he moved out for college. Smitty and Martin could barely process that their children really weren't children anymore.
Back up

Leslie found Derek and raked him over the coals for not letting Grayson volunteer at the clinic. She growled that she was trying to establish a working relationship between the clinic and Garland Memorial, and if Derek couldn't get on board, he could get on the unemployment line.
Naomi snuck away to Jacob's motel room, where they lounged in bed. She still had questions about who had beaten Jacob and what kind of danger he remained in, but he wanted to put everything aside for the moment and just enjoy being together. Naomi agreed, but after they made love, she began asking whether or not Jacob was investigating Grayson and if Grayson was some kind of criminal. Jacob denied that Grayson was a bad guy, though Naomi was still worried about Ashley being at the hospital. How could Ash even do her job if she didn't know who was out to get her? Jacob grudgingly shared that Lia was part of the organization he was trying to bust and allowed Naomi to give that information to Ashley as long as the women kept it to themselves.
At the hospital, Ashley was startled when Derek came up on her from behind. He had come to talk to Lia, but, not finding her, he decided to tell Ashley that he was sorry he had been so petty as to block Grayson from volunteering at the clinic. Ashley accepted Derek's overture but conceded that he had been right – Grayson hadn't been who she'd thought he was, and they had broken up. Derek understood that she probably didn't want to confide in him, but he offered to be there for her if she needed him.
Naomi arrived moments after Derek left and took Ashley aside to tell her that the person she needed to watch out for was Lia Whitmore. Ashley was stunned.
Next up, Smitty clashes with Joey, Chelsea and Madison have an altercation that requires police protection, and Bill gets a blast from the past.
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.
