On Beyond the Gates, Tomás took a call from Smitty, refusing his request to discuss a client until Smitty mentioned Lynette. The men met at Uptown, where Smitty sold Tomás a story of how he was working on a piece about people being affected by having their savings siphoned by scammers, using that as a ploy to get contact info for Lynette.

Tomás finally replied that he had no intel because Lynette had mysteriously left town despite making plans to stay – but, since Tomás had the vested interests of Lynette nearly ruining his career with her false sexual harassment claim, he wanted Smitty to share with him whatever he was able to dig up on the woman. Smitty promised to, and together he and Tomás theorized that Lynette's disappearance was likely engineered by someone who had it out for her after she stole from them.

Dani and Chelsea were ready for some mother-daughter chill-out time, but Kat arrived with news that Chelsea breaking the cell phone of the reporter who had accosted both her and Madison had been filmed and posted – not only that, the vid had gone viral. Kat was especially upset when a negative commenter brought ChelseaKat into the conversation. Chelsea was all right with Dani and Kat's suggestion that she do a livestream to tell people what had led up to the incident, but she wanted to make sure first that any action she took wouldn't derail Bill and Naomi's defense of Madison in her malpractice suit.

At Bill's office, Naomi was ready to head to Ashley's, but Bill was anxious for her to stick around and spend time with him; he was particularly gratified to be able to work with Naomi when she proposed they use Mike's history with the firm against him as he litigated for Hazel Harcourt, the woman suing Madison. Hayley came in, but when she saw Naomi's displeasure, she offered to leave her and Bill to themselves; only after Bill persuaded her did Naomi invite Hayley to stay. Calling her husband and daughter-in-law the “Hamilton Dream Team,” Hayley was excited to see them crush “perv” Mike on Madison's behalf.

Bill got a call from Chelsea, slightly annoyed that Kat and Dani were on speaker with her while discussing legal matters. However, he and Naomi recommended that Chelsea do the livestream defending her actions as long as she didn't mention the lawsuit. Chelsea agreed and handled herself with poise while on her socials. Bill capitalized on the moment to again try to convince Naomi to give up being a civil attorney and come work with him at his firm. After Naomi left, Hayley told Bill that she wanted to work on winning Naomi back as a friend, which delighted him.

Ted and Izaiah were already at Eva's apartment when Leslie came in, wondering what fancy establishment had been chosen to commemorate Eva's birthday. When Izaiah revealed that he was cooking, Leslie, who was already perturbed that she wouldn't get to be alone with Ted and Eva, made snide remarks about the low-key celebration, one which Eva was perfectly happy with.

Leslie turned up her nose as Izaiah served up what appeared to be typical macaroni and cheese, but she soon discovered that he had prepared a gourmet dish; he amazed everyone by admitting that, when he was a teenager, a friend of his had taught him how to cook. Even Leslie had to concede that the meal was first rate, and she winked that he should make it for his and Eva's wedding reception.

It was then time for early birthday presents: Eva loved the expensive necklace Leslie had bought her, but she was moved to tears when Ted produced items that he would have given her on previous birthdays had he known he was her father. Leslie became emotional as well, but didn't easily take Ted's hint that they should give Eva and Izaiah some privacy. Once Ted ushered Leslie out, Eva noted that Izaiah hadn't mentioned to her parents that it had been Joey who had schooled him on cuisine; Izaiah added that his own parents didn't know about that, either.

The two got frisky, and Izaiah was ready to use cupcake batter on Eva in the bedroom, saying, “Being in love inspires me.” He immediately seemed embarrassed by the statement, stumbling over the fact that Eva had wanted to take things slowly. When Eva asked if he'd meant his admission, he acknowledged that he had – and Eva responded that, when she had blown out her birthday candle, she had wished for exactly that moment. She reciprocated the profession by announcing that she was “falling so deeply in love” with Izaiah, and they kissed.

Nicole's a lot closer to taking Vanessa's advice than she copped to on Beyond the Gates | Image: CBS

Vanessa and Nicole settled in for a little girl talk at the country club, giggling over the fact that Carlton had just given Nicole what she needed. Nicole felt scandalized when she confided to Vanessa that she had unexpectedly envisioned Ted in bed with her instead of Carlton on the night of their not-anniversary. Vanessa took that in stride but wondered if Nicole at least wanted to sleep with Ted again, the idea of which Nicole deemed “repulsive.”

Nicole excused herself, and suddenly Leslie approached, glad to talk to her new friend. Vanessa warned Leslie that Nicole would be back any minute; Leslie joked that Nicole wouldn't want to see Vanessa “bonding with her rival,” but then softened, saying that she could see why Nicole valued Vanessa's friendship. Vanessa asked about Marcel, whom Leslie sighed was not going to be her “forever bae.” Leslie spoke of sharing Eva's birthday with Ted and the possibility that the three of them could still end up being a family.

Ted ran into Nicole in the club hallway, having just completed a jog. As Ted explained that he'd needed to clear his head after dealing with “Dana,” Nicole suddenly found herself having a raunchy fantasy about Ted taking her right there where they stood. Ted noticed Nicole's distraction and touched her shoulder, which popped her back to reality; Nicole tried to cover her mental detour with a grin.

Tune in tomorrow when Anastasia strikes again, Anita gets the next steps, and Randy has a moment with Mona.
