Here's what went down Friday, May 15, 2026, on Beyond the Gates when Samantha got encouragement from a kindred spirit, Vanessa went all Dr. Ruth, and Gatekeepers got their first view of inside the Phoenix Street Clinic.
What happened on Beyond the Gates

On Beyond the Gates, Eva took Ted through his schedule, notifying him he was clear for the cotillion the following day. Ted wished he could have seen Eva as a debutante, but Eva smiled that he could save the formalities for her possible wedding – she and Izaiah had expressed “the L word!” Eva then asked about Ted's own relationship with Shanice, which he said he was getting help with imminently.
Shanice's aunt, Monica, met with Ted, fearing Shanice was ill – but when he shared that Shanice was running scared, the dubious Monica assumed that Ted had cheated. Ted tried to explain that he had slept with Leslie before getting involved with Shanice, yet Shanice was still afraid he would “circle back” to Leslie eventually. Shanice then answered a call from Ted, unenthusiastic about meeting with him.
When Shanice entered Ted's office to find Monica there alone, she grumbled that he had gotten her family to “do his dirty work.” Monica couldn't understand why Shanice was worried about Leslie, since it was only Leslie who was obsessing over a reunion with Ted; Shanice fretted that Ted had taken Leslie's side in an earlier incident. Seeing that Shanice was afraid of getting her heart broken, Monica relayed how she had let her mother dictate her romance with a man to the point he walked out. “Fall hard and fast!” Monica advised. Regret was worse than heartbreak, she added, noting that everyone had a past. Shanice seemed moved by these words.

At the country club, Nicole was on a video call with Martin, explaining how Samantha was ready to bail on the cotillion after her run-in with the Belleclaire women. She and Vanessa commiserated over their own pre-gala bumps, such as when Deanna had chopped off her hair the night before her début; Nicole recalled Ted helping Kat through stage fright before hers. Vanessa wanted to know if Nicole had had any more fantasies about Ted, and lapped it up when Nicole described envisioning herself and her ex in the adjacent hallway. After Vanessa rated the vision high on the “scorch-o-meter,” Ted happened by, and Vanessa quickly covered, claiming she'd had the naughty daydream.
Ted beat a hasty retreat, causing the women to giggle uproariously. Vanessa then asked whether Nicole would be accompanied by Carlton or Kial at the cotillion – Nicole replied that she was attending solo so she could focus on Samantha and not have to choose between the men. Fresh off of Vanessa again suggesting that Nicole have a final fling with Ted, Nicole found herself in the same hallway where her fantasy had taken place; she ran into Ted there and was so flustered that she excused herself and left him flummoxed.

At the brownstone, Martin saw that Tyrell was still mad at Samantha for ratting him and Jessica out, noting that their first time should be special instead of a mad dash with his family downstairs. Tyrell admitted that Jessica wasn't a virgin, but Martin continued to feel that Tyrell and Jessica's initial encounter should be meaningful – and safe. Understanding the implication, Tyrell also promised to lighten up on Samantha going forward.
Samantha came home ready to hide out for the rest of her life after her latest battle with Chessy. Even though Tyrell didn't want Samantha to give the victory to Chessy, Samantha sighed that Chessy was probably right about her not fitting into the debutante world. The arriving Eva heard this and impressed upon Samantha that they both had grit and strength despite hailing from the wrong side of the tracks – the kind of fierceness that country club girls weren't born with. Tyrell backed Eva up as she reminded Samantha that part of engaging with debutante culture was stepping into her own power. Samantha changed her mind about not going to the ball, and Eva was touched when Martin invited her to attend. However, Eva was happy just making Samantha, Jessica, and June beautiful for the event.
Smitty met Jacob at the motel and reported that Grayson had been shoehorned into the clinic by Lia despite Derek's objection to his volunteering. Jacob realized that The Impaler had found his next plasma source, while Smitty reasoned that Lia didn't possess the same level of control at the clinic that she did at the hospital. The two debated over whether Joey and/or Leslie were tied to the ring – Jacob said that Joey would have had them killed already if he were a higher-up – but their discussion was interrupted by a call from Ren, who instructed “Rashad” to be ready for a big drop the next night, which would be witnessed by the “VIPs.” Smitty and Jacob took that to mean The Impaler would be making an appearance, but Jacob banned Smitty from being present, telling him to go to the cotillion with his family instead.
When Smitty returned home, Martin noticed that he was more preoccupied than usual. As they readied for dinner, Samantha admitted that she had almost backed out of the cotillion because of the Belleclaires trying to make her feel less-than; the teen assured her fathers that she had never had that view of herself around them. Tyrell presented Samantha with diamond earrings, since, when they were motherless kids dreaming of a better life, she had wished for a pair, wanting to shine. Samantha and Smitty both became teary when Tyrell said that Samantha would always be a star to him.
Tightrope

Grayson lingered in the hospital stairwell, flashing back to his stabbing. Lia approached, knowing Grayson was thinking about it and demanding his progress report from his first night volunteering at the clinic. Grayson groaned that Derek had him doing grunt work and that he'd not been able to suss out the facility's blood plasma situation one way or the other, but Lia didn't care – she ordered Grayson to “get creative,” since the first shipment would be taking place the following night. “It's a matter of life and death,” Lia menaced – “yours.”
Naomi had accompanied Ashley to the hospital for her shift, where Ashley ran into Grayson. With Naomi watching, Grayson told Ashley that he hated what she was going through because of him. “I know,” Ashley responded softly, still wanting to understand what he was ensnared in, as she found him particularly rattled. He would only say he had to get to the clinic and parted ways.
Lia went to the police station, telling Marcel that his text had surprised him. While Marcel didn't have much more information about who had hacked into Nicole's laptop, he did show Lia security footage of the stairwell, which had blacked out twice. The first cut-off, at the time of the hack, had been due to scheduled maintenance of the system, but the second had almost seemed deliberate. Lia fumbled over her denial of knowledge and cut the conversation short.
Later, Lia saw Ashley and asked how she was coping with her separation from Grayson. Playing Lia, Ashley answered that Lia had been right to insist she not let her personal life interfere with her professional life – and that it had been inappropriate for her to confide in Lia about her romantic travails as if they were girlfriends. “Do no harm,” Lia said enigmatically. Then, Ashley observed as Vanessa came to Lia, who wanted to shore up the connection between Garland and the clinic by going over Leslie's head.
Ante up

Elon got a call from Jacob, who updated him about the uptick in syndicate activity and how things appeared to be culminating at the warehouse meeting the following night. After assuring that warrants and a team of officers would be ready, Elon told Jacob that he was proud of him. The police chief moved on to the hospital, where he let a desperate Naomi know that Jacob was fine and hugged her.
Returning to the station, Elon hailed the success of Marcel's ploy to lure Lia out of the hospital so Elon could do some digging there. Marcel was now certain that Lia had turned off the stairwell's camera on purpose, and that, with Lia now scrambling to cover her tracks, it was inevitable that she would slip up.
Jacob made a quick call to Naomi on the burner phone, able to say that he would be coming home soon. When Naomi requested a promise to that effect, Jacob said he swore it was true – on his life.
Grayson got to the clinic and found a lockbox that apparently contained plasma or info that would lead him to it. As he began to look around for the combination, Eva saw him and asked if he needed help. Grayson introduced himself and lauded Eva's mother for funding the clinic; seeing her soften, he admitted he needed the code for the safe, and he studied Eva carefully as she punched it in.
Tune in next week when Donnell goes missing as the cotillion starts, Derek makes a discovery, and shots are fired at the big blood plasma drop.
Beyond the Gates airs weekdays on CBS and streams on Paramount Plus.
