On Beyond the Gates, Shanice's faith in Ted was shaken after he was upset that Nicole was out with Kial, Leslie told her he couldn't be faithful, and she found a pair of panties in Ted's hotel room, which Ted deduced were Leslie's. Ted loudly confronted Leslie in public and vehemently insisted he had no interest in her. Mona and Jan disagreed over Nicole's recent sexual liberation; later, Mona thanked Randy for coming to Vanessa's rescue after Lance had attacked her.

Izaiah defended Eva when Kat ran her down. Tomás helped Eva realize that she wanted more from Izaiah than a good time, then got assurances from Kat that she hadn't been flirting with Izaiah, leading to Tomás again suggesting that he and Kat live together. Eva and Izaiah decided to make their relationship exclusive.

Hayley covered when Bill complained to Madison about the tea she had been giving him, and she managed to talk Bill out of staying overnight in the hospital when his blood levels remained alarming. Madison and Dr. Martinez referred Bill to Grayson for further blood work, since Grayson also ran a “concierge health service.” Hayley flirted with Izaiah, who gave her no encouragement; Chelsea witnessed this and accused Hayley of trying to trade in her father.

Fresh from Vernon warning him that Bill had expressed regret over divorcing Dani, Andre learned from Dani that she had kissed Bill, which she swore was an attempt to say goodbye. Dani demanded that she and Bill limit their interactions to matters concerning their daughters, but Bill scoffed that they had drawn that line in the sand before. Andre and Pamela worked together to get Dani to accept a modeling gig from fashion designer Tatum Stewart.

Once Anita realized that her chemotherapy treatments were making her hair fall out, Dani gave her mother a short 'do, after which Anita had Andre take photos of her new look so she could stave off any Fairmont Crest gossip. Anita had barely begun to convince Jessica of the merits of cotillions when Anastasia claimed that her granddaughter would end up taking the gala's crown, dragging Anita for her humble beginnings. Anita stood up to the woman but became lightheaded afterwards.

After Chelsea learned that Madison hadn't applied for her fellowship in Denmark as a way of breaking up with her, the couple decided to move there together; however, when Kat wasn't happy and Chelsea learned of Bill's unusual blood levels, Chelsea decided to stay in town, and she and Madison agreed to attempt a long-distance relationship. Madison was surprised when Chelsea turned around and proposed to her ahead of her departure, but she accepted Chelsea's ring, and the couple became engaged.

Joey showed Vanessa his home, but when she suggested she move in, he advised against it because it would make her more vulnerable to his enemies. As Jacob complained to Izaiah about Elon wanting to pull him off the blood plasma ring investigation, Naomi and Martin commiserated about their partners being involved in something potentially dangerous. Smitty was barely able to convince his contact, Max, to stay in the syndicate once one of the couriers was savagely beaten over suspicions he was a snitch; Jacob got his entry into the organization when Max arranged for him to replace the fallen courier.

Derek found his way out of self-pity over his dismissal from the fire station when Shanice helped him see he had transferrable skills. After being pressured by Vanessa to find staff for the free clinic, Leslie offered Ashley a position, which she turned down; Jan suggested that Leslie hire Derek instead. Ashley put distance between herself and Derek after he cast doubt on Grayson's character – but when Grayson interrupted foreplay and took off without explanation, Ashley remembered Derek's cautionary words.
