On Beyond the Gates, Anita told her family that she had decided to go public with her cancer battle, causing them to rally behind her. CBS Mornings' Gayle King took Anita through her diagnosis for the cameras and reinforced Anita's call for mammograms and early detection. Everyone was glued to their sets when Anita's interview aired, except the snarky Anastasia – and Leslie, who planned to upstage the Duprees by holding a press conference to announce “her” clinic. However, Leslie couldn't find anyone willing to help her put the event together, so she settled for a livestream on social media.

Kat, who was fuming on the anniversary of Laura being run off the road, tried to interrupt Leslie's livestream with news of her criminal activity, but it was only being recorded. After arguing with Leslie, Kat swore to do whatever was necessary to put her and Eva behind bars. When Derek demonstrated his expertise in what it would take to get a clinic running, Eva hired him on the spot. His only stipulation: as little contact with Leslie as possible.

Kat finally wanted to take Tomás up on his offer to move in with him, but he decided she still wasn't ready – especially after learning that Kat was anxious to relocate because Madison would soon be living with Chelsea. After Kat arranged for realtor Vanessa to show her some properties, she and Chelsea got into an argument about her moving out, with Chelsea feeling like Kat was trying to punish her for nearly abandoning her.

Izaiah took it in stride when Leslie wanted to be sure he would treat Eva right – but when he told Eva he wanted to know everything about her, Eva flashed back to Leslie admitting her attacks on Laura and became quiet. Leslie felt that neither she nor Ted knew enough about the man Eva was dating, so Ted called Izaiah to schedule a get-together with him.

Ashley celebrated her one-year anniversary as a nurse at Garland Memorial. Nicole shared her confusion over Carlton's sudden lack of availability with Vanessa, who advised Nicole to guide the man into making her a priority.

Naomi continued to be bummed by the lack of contact with Jacob, but refused to go along with Elon's plan to talk Jacob into quitting the undercover assignment. Jacob fended off a potential robber and made his first delivery for the blood plasma ring, passing on the intel he had gathered to Smitty afterwards. The only thing Jacob could find out about The Impaler was that he was getting “antsy” about falling behind schedule. Izaiah was offended when Jacob saw him in the bad neighborhood and assumed he had slipped back into his lawbreaking ways.

With Bill hot to catch the nonexistent person who had attacked Hayley, Lynette planted evidence on Wesley, a homeless man, who was soon arrested. Hayley positively identified him but felt guilty for sending someone innocent to jail. In exchange for handling Hayley's problem, Lynette demanded that she maneuver Bill into getting her embezzlement case dropped. June knew Wesley from the streets and insisted he wasn't a criminal, prompting Joey to get the man released and send him out of town. Before leaving Washington, Wesley stopped by to say goodbye to June in a charged moment.
